Volume 17, Number 9 February 26, 2018 NEWS Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspections Monday, March 5 Friday, March 9 Residential Living, Ext. 5411 To ensure proper operation in the event of an emergency, Cross Keys Village conducts an annual inspection of each and every fire extinguisher on campus. We will be conducting inspections of fire extinguishers for the Harmony Ridge Apartments, Cottages Country & Garden Homes during the week of Monday, March 5 thru Friday, March 9. In order to inspect all fire extinguishers in these locations, we ask for your assistance. All Cottage, Country & Garden Home Villagers, please set your fire extinguisher outside on your front porch by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, March 5. Fire extinguishers may be placed back inside your residence on Friday, March 9. In some cases, you may receive a loaner fire extinguisher if yours is due for further testing this year. This is a change from previous years for cottages, country & garden homes. Do not bring your extinguishers to the Harmony Ridge building. BFPE will be checking them at your residence this year. If you need assistance with bringing your fire extinguisher to your front porch, please contact the Maintenance Office at ext. 5291. All Harmony Ridge Apartment Villagers, please set your fire extinguisher outside your door in the hallway by 7:00 a.m on Monday, March 5. Fire extinguishers may be placed back in your apartment on Friday, March 9. In some cases, you may receive a loaner fire extinguisher if yours is due for further testing this year. If you need assistance with bringing your fire extinguisher out into the hallway, please contact the Maintenance Office at ext. 5291. Special Showings Harmony Ridge Railroad Club The Harmony Ridge Railroad Club members will provide volunteer time for Villagers and Residents of Cross Keys Village, team members and the community to view and enjoy the running of trains with all gauges; N scale, HO gauge, and O scales. Any Villager, Resident, team member and community group planning a family celebration, birthday party, anniversary or any special event may request a date, time and duration to visit the Harmony Ridge Railroad Club room located in the lower level of Harmony Ridge West. Simply contact any of the members posted on the bulletin board located by the mailboxes in Harmony Ridge. Members of the club welcome any interested resident of Cross Keys Village to join the fun, fellowship and sharing of ideas. The members of the Railroad Club provide open houses during the Christmas holidays and the second of each month during the Campus Inn breakfast buffet. EVENTS Line Dancing in Wellness Wellness Team, Ext. 5410 Line dancing is a type of country and western dancing in which dancers line up in a row without partners and follow a choreographed pattern of steps to music. Karen Hebert has 30 years experience with line dancing and has started a beginner class on s in the Wellness Studio. So grab your cowboy boots and hats and let s learn to line dance! There will be a few extras if you did not preorder - $5.00 each (first come, first served for extra subs). As always, bring your own beverage and bring your own trash bag. However, one cannot capture that glass of sunlight without first growing the grapes. Charles McClintock, Certified Hospitality Beverage Specialist and fellow Villager, will cover the details on this most important part of making wine, from soil to harvest. This is the first of a two-part series by Charles McClintock, co-sponsored by the Life Enrichment Committee. S. Gilbert (their ninth of fourteen operatic collaborations). It opened on 14 March 1885, in London, where it ran at the Savoy Theatre for 672 performances. Setting the opera in Japan, a locale far away from Britain, allowed Gilbert to satirize British politics and institutions more freely by disguising them as Japanese. We still plan to take the summer months off and to join with the Men s Interfaith Breakfast group for a meal in June and December. There will be an article in the Village Voice before each luncheon to remind us of the next event. We will have a short program after the luncheon. In months to come perhaps we will be able to add music to our events. We hope at some point, someone will step up to provide the leadership we need to make this a fully-functioning Ladies Interfaith Luncheon again. In the meantime, we will be able to enjoy a Ladies Fellowship Lunch and socialize.
