April 2018 Easter Eggs By Brian Rosso, R.D. The Easter egg is a tradition that is celebrated around the world. Originally, people would take great time and effort to paint and decorate eggs. However, over time, some people chose to use plastic eggs or chocolate eggs instead. Decorating Easter eggs dates back 2,500 years. Countries such as Russia, Romania and Poland still create very detailed colored eggs. In England, different colored yarns are also tied to the eggs to create a unique look. On Easter in the United Kingdom, painted eggs are rolled down steep hills for fun. In the United States, children roll eggs on the ground using a spoon, which is an annual event at the White House. Easter egg hunts are another famous tradition. Beeping Easter eggs are now used to allow the visually impaired the opportunity to also hunt for Easter eggs. Happy Easter!
2 BINGO Welc me BINGO BASH This month s BINGO BASH is April 30, at 3:00 p.m. at American House Village. Four American Houses will join together for a bingo game like no other. Cost is $1.25 for up to four cards. The bus will leave at 2:00 p.m. FAMILY AND FRIENDS BINGO Family and Friends Bingo is set for Monday, April 16, at American House Elmwood. The fun starts at 6:45 p.m. All families and friends of residents are invited, so make a date with your loved one. Bingo cards are 50 each, and you can play as many cards as you can handle. Catholic Service Rosary and Holy Communion are held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Activity Room, thanks to the parishioners from Sacred Heart Church. Woodside Bible Service Sundays at 10 a.m., Woodside Bible visits and provides our community devotion and leads us in songs of praise. Scripture Study Fridays in the Activity Room at 10 a.m., Jim, Sandie, Kathy, Sandy, Elaine and Audrey lead us in Scripture Study, prayers and hymns. Volunteers are needed. Events With Gethsemane Lutheran Church On the first Wednesday of every month, Gethsemane Lutheran Church will hold a church service for our residents at the church.
