Introduction I N C E R Intégration de la Nouvelle-Calédonie dans l Economie R é g i o n a l e While they belong to the same geographic environment, most Pacific Island Countries economies are constrained by poor capacities to promote their production, their knowhow and their creativity. Limited population, external dependence, transport surcharges, poor natural resources and isolation hinder development, limit progress and distort competition. Caledonian entrepreneurs are of the view that options should be explored to enhance trade relations and economic synergies across the Pacific area so as to pave the way for an extension of business activities and facilitate export of corporate know-how. Through a Pacific Business Forum, Caledonian entrepreneurs hope to stimulate trade between Pacific island economies and promote opportunities for cooperation within all size economies across the region. Objectives Through the creation in 2016 of a «Pacific Business Forum», Caledonian entrepreneurs aim at organising a world-class event with the following objectives : Enhance economic relations in the South Pacific area by creating an Oceania Trade Area, Promote the production, the know-how and the creativity of South Pacific entrepreneurs, Bring together entrepreneurs, investors and business owners from the four corners of the Pacific to help create regional economic synergies, Establish a South Pacific business hub. 5

The event will be held over three full days in Nouméa, New Caledonia and will be organised as a «Business Forum» for South Pacific businesses. During this forum, Pacific entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to attend in : Presentations of invited countries market. Conferences on economy with quality speakers. Theme-specific conferences on operational matters (logistics, financial tools for export, network). Targeted business meetings. We garantee free access on reservation and free shuttles from hotels to venue. Temporary showrooms will be available on request. Let s talk about and think about business opportunities! 7

14 NEW CALEDONIA, A Vibrant First-World Economy

As a French collectivity of the Pacific, New Caledonia complies with the basic tenets of a first-world economy. Its developed-country economic status is backed by a economic growth sustained at a 3.4% yearly average from 1999 to 2010 and well above the 2% OECD average for the same period. This growth rate has been spurred by foreign and endogenous investment as well as primary infrastructure spending and a very active net of 6000 small to medium enterprises took advantage of this stability to develop a mosaic of services and industries. New-Caledonia cares and protect one of the world richest biodiversity includes the largest world lagoon, classified as a World Heritage. This exceptional environment and it s very active nature shows the path to a responsible and innovative development. 15

CGPME-NC Founded in 1993, CGPME is a business network and a federation of small to medium size companies which represents New Caledonian private sector. Its missions are to safeguard and promote entrepreneurs interests, to give private business proper consideration and its rightful place in the economy, and to support business development. incer The INCER association was created by entrepreneurs to promote the integration of New Caledonia in the regional economy. INCER is the project manager of the PBF, in charge of the forum organisation. For this purpose, CGPME initiated the Pacific Business Forum concept to promote opportunities for business cooperation across the region. 17
