Smith Orange Park, FL Session Abstract: Much of the case manager s work is inherently tied to effective communication with physicians, which can be a struggle even for experienced clinicians. This session will explore elements of communication that are requisite for interaction with physicians, focusing on how and why some forms of communication may be different when dealing with doctors. A better understanding of how physicians are trained and socialized will enhance the case manager s awareness of the physician s perspective and thus increase the likelihood of achieving what is needed for patient safety and better outcomes. 1.
