Students will view our rock lab to find out how geologists learn about earth materials. There will also be demonstrations of instruments used to test water quality outside along Big Chico Creek. (weather permitting) or in the lab. Please return at 1pm for an open house of the GEOS department from 1-4pm in the Physical Sciences building. After introductory remarks, we ll divide into two groups for tours of our facilities. Students interested in programs in general music, music industry, and recording arts will tour the recording studio. Those interested in theatre arts and musical theatre will tour the stages and backstage areas and the costume/scene shops. Want to do both tours? Department of Physics Tour 11 a.m. Meet at Department of Physics table Faculty members and physics majors (members of the Society of Physics Students) will be on hand to give an overview of our physics programs followed by a short tour of the state-of-the-art Advanced Lab, Optics & Laser Lab, and Introductory Lab, where students not only learn physics but also conduct undergraduate research. Department of Psychology Tours 11 a.m. and Noon Meet at Department of Psychology table This is a tour of the department facilities including the EMG (facial electromyography) Lab. Psi Chi Honors students will lead the tours. Faculty will also be available to greet students and answer any questions. School of Nursing Tours Every 30 minutes, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until Noon Meet at School of Nursing table This tour includes a stop at the School of Nursing office in Trinity, and then moves to the skills and media labs in Holt Hall. You will see the mannequins, monitors, and equipment students use to practice their nursing skills. Museums & Galleries The University Galleries: The Janet Turner Print Museum, Jacki Headley University Art Gallery, and MFA Gallery Noon.to 4 p.m. Arts and Humanities Building, Room 121-123 (See map Section E-6 in center of this brochure.) The Janet Turner Print Museum is a collection of nearly 4,000 fine art prints, anchored by a gift of the late art professor and artist Janet Turner. The Turner is a visual resource for the campus and community and a site for individual, group and class research. The current exhibition, The Meaning of Life: Visual Analogy is a collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, adding visual layers to the largest of ques tions how we assign meaning to human existence. The Jacki Headley University Art Gallery s current exhibition Body Vulnerable Body Protected showcases a selection of films and videos by internationally recognized artist Nao Bustamante. With an emphasis on parody and the performing body, Bustamante s work challenges the boundaries between feminism, queer theory, and performance in order to undermine gender and ethnic stereotypes. Nao Bustamante is a 2017 Hopper Visiting Artist. The MFA Gallery exhibition features recent work by Masters of Fine Arts Students. Page 17
