Oyster Bay High School December 2017 Newsletter INFORMATION ON ACCESSING FINANCIAL AID The information provided below will assist you in obtaining financial aid. Some colleges require that students complete financial aid applications before they may qualify for scholarships. The main way for students to secure money and qualify for scholarships for college is by applying for financial aid. The FSA ID is a secure username and password that you will use to log into the FAFSA. You may create your FSA ID any time prior to starting the financial aid application. Visit https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm to create your FSA ID. If you don't have one by the time you fill out your FAFSA, you will be prompted to apply for one. You may apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form at www.fafsa.ed.gov and the New York State TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) form online beginning on October 1 st of your senior year. New York State (NYS) Residents attending NYS schools will have the option to link directly to the TAP application from the FAFSA submission confirmation page. If you exited the FAFSA before selecting this option, you can complete the application after NYS HESC (New York State Higher Education Services Corporation) receives your FAFSA data (three days). HESC will send you an email or postcard notifying you to complete the TAP application online. If you did not select the FAFSA link to TAP at the end of the FAFSA application, you may visit the TAP web page at www.hesc.ny.gov. *If you would like to obtain a financial aid estimate, you may visit the FAFSA page at www.fafsa.ed.gov and follow the links for the FAFSA 4Caster.
