IEEE as Professional Organization The IEEE, a non-profit organization, is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology. Through its global membership, the IEEE is a leading authority on areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics among others.
IEEE Quick Facts more than 375,000 members including nearly 80,000 student members in more than 160 countries 324 sections in ten geographic regions worldwide 1,784 chapters that unite local members with similar technical interests 1,616 student branches and 452 student branch chapters at colleges and universities in 80 countries 38 societies and 7 technical councils representing the wide range of technical interests 390 affinity groups consisting of Consultants' Network, Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD), Women in Engineering (WIE) and Life Members (LM) groups nearly 1,300 standards and projects under development more than 1.7 million documents in the IEEE/IET Electronic Library publishes a total of 144 transactions, journals and magazines sponsors more than 850 conferences annually
IEEE Vision & Mission Vision To advance global prosperity by fostering technological innovation, enabling members' careers and promoting community worldwide. Mission The IEEE promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession.
Mission Statement To be the leading provider of scientific and engineering information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society, and the preferred professional development source for our members.
Chapters IEEE PES has about 180 local chapters world-wide. These chapters are the base organization of the Power Engineering Society and serve directly the technical, scientific and professional needs of its members. Included are continuing education and publications. In performing local activities, the local chapters support the global IEEE PES to fulfill its tasks. Chapter activities may include guest speakers, work-shops, and seminars as well as social functions. Chapters provide society members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level - enabling both personal and professional growth.
Swiss Chapter The Swiss Chapters of IEEE PES (about 100 members) provides a platform for power engineers in Switzerland to participate and to contribute on the international progress of power systems. The Swiss Chapter of IEEE PES is member of the Swiss Section of IEEE (about 2500 members). By its short Mission Global Facts, Trends and Visions in Power Industry, the Swiss Chapter of IEEE PES complements the national organizations by a window to the global world.
