Experiences from the preparation of large scale demonstration projects. Proposal content and consortia

UnaLAB objectives Implementation of living lab demonstration areas of natre-based soltions to enhance the climate and water resilience of cities. Target to create a robst evidence base and Eropean framework. Soltions are selected via co-creation with stakeholders and implemented in a in the context of an integrated rban ecological approach. Demonstration of evidence in 3 front-rnner cities in an rban innovation ecosystem. Knowledge transfer and replication plans in follower cities. Do keep attention to: Citizens are in the center of the rban environments. Ethics and data management. Other responsible research as e.g. gender balance. Connection with national and other regional initiatives. Do a good and realistic risk analysis. This demonstration projects are an excellent opportnity to involve SMEs (inclding start-ps). Depending on what is the offer and the experience, the role might be more or less centralized in the whole project approach. 9

operational isses (1/2) roles Coordination and city leadership Coordination and main proposal writing: scientific coordinator, writing roles, administrative coordination, demo/living-labs coordination Roles on writing connected with roles on proposal: dissemination manager, exploitation manager, replication manager, etc Bdget and other costs - very connected and interlinked with demos actions F2F meetings Bild a shared vision, clarify expected inpts and roles, work on proposal main elements. Important for the network and knowledge exchange between the cities in the consortia 1 or 2 - kick-off with timeline, expectations, roles, work assignment, etc Special city/ demo oriented workshops both at local level with local consortim as well as proposal level also with follower cities. Align impacts, actions and work plan timeline. 12

operational isses (2/2) Commnications Clarify commnication roles, commnicate these and delegate. Bild contacts lists also for the proposal. Keep consistency. Bdget Start early, bild and commnicate the main expected inpts. Commnicate H2020 financial and cost reporting isses. Stay on bdget! Jstify any nbalance. For the large demonstration activities be clear on what the EC fnd is intended to spport and on other leverage fnds. Read all instrctions in detail, ask for advise. Keep in mind the project exection. 13
