WELCOME There s a lot happening on our First Week schedule, so get ready to begin the next adventure of your lifetime your career at Bentley University. First Week 2015 is a program designed to make your transition to university life as easy as possible. Get set for social and educational activities and a world full of fun with your classmates. Use this booklet as a day-by-day guide to First Week 2015. In your First-Year Seminar class, you will receive information about classes that you must attend during the week: computer orientation and distribution, GB112 (Tools and Concepts in Accounting and Finance) and a program on building community. There are also a number of interesting and informative sessions that you should attend throughout the week. Mandatory sessions for all students are designated by a star (). Should you have questions during First Week 2015, there are plenty of people around campus to answer them. First-Year Seminar student facilitators, resident assistants and international peer advisers can be valuable resources. The building will be open normal summer hours, which are 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and includes the Fieldhouse where you can play some pick-up basketball, the Fitness Center where you can get a workout in, as well as the Pool where you can work on your backstroke. UNDERSTANDING PROCRASTINATION Peter Forkner, Ph.D., Counseling Center. Jennison Hall, Room 409 Procrastination can be one of the most frustrating barriers to academic success. On the surface, it should be so easy to control. However, in today s age of social media, smartphones and Netflix, it has never been more difficult to focus on tasks you d rather not be doing. In this session you will learn about what procrastination is (and is not) and proven strategies for dealing with it. THE PROFESSIONAL SALES MAJOR AT BENTLEY James Pouliopoulos, Marketing Department Jennison Hall, Room 308 Bentley University recently launched a new Professional Sales major and you are invited to come learn if this major is a good fit for you. During the Spring 2016 semester, students will travel to Ghana for an intensive short-term program where they will conduct market research and analyze the business environment across diverse socio-economic strata in rural and urban regions of Ghana.
