Background and Objectives of the LTP Based on the principles set down in the EU s Security Strategy (2003) and UNSCR 1540 (2004) objectives of the EU - LTP project are to: Tackle threat of proliferation by strengthening cooperation with other countries in the field of export control Exchange views and experiences and cooperate as equal partners Identify necessary changes and improvements in export control system, and offer tailor made solutions 4
The 5-Pillar 5 Approach Cooperation addresses all key aspects of export control: Tailored approach: the pillars that are addressed depend on the requirements of the partner country 5
