Arlington s McKenna Dahl is 2016 Paralympic Games Hopeful by Alan Carey It s been a couple of years since we looked at how McKenna Dahl is doing. McKenna is from Arlington and is one of the USA s top Paralympic rifle shooters. McKenna is now preparing for the 2016 Paralympic Games that will be held in Rio de Janeiro next September. McKenna is shown competing in 10-meter standing SH2 Paralympic discipline (from gofundme.com). First, a little background information about the Paralympics. The Paralympics immediately follow the Olympics and allow athletes with disabilities to compete on the highest stage. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the governing body for the Paralympics. USA Shooting, the USA s governing body for shooting sports, includes a Paralympic shooting team. McKenna recently became a Resident Athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. McKenna was born with arthrogryposis, a form of amyoplasia that affects muscle growth and joint development. McKenna competes in the SH2 Class of Paralympic Shooting, which means that she shoots while sitting with her air rifle supported by a specialized stand. A country must win quota places in IPC World Cup competition for its athletes to compete in the Paralympics. McKenna won a quota spot for the USA in 10-meter air rifle standing SH2 mixed competition (women and men compete shoulder to shoulder) at the 2014 IPC World Championships in Suhl, Germany. Bob Foth, USA Shooting s Paralympic coach, will select the shooters that will represent the USA in the 2016 Paralympic Games. You can help fund McKenna s Paralympic dream at: https://www.gofundme.com/t722tbck?ssid=222551588&pos=8 4

Washington State Highpower Rifle Clinics at CSF 2016 by Gary Rasmussen The annual Washington State Highpower Rifle Clinics have been set for Cascade Shooting Facilities at Ravensdale, WA (26520 292 nd Ave SE). The Clinics will review NRA rules and equipment requirements, outline the different courses of fire, and help all students get into positions and stages. Experienced competition shooters will be on the line and in the pits to coach students throughout the Clinics. Students in the first Clinic should have an AR15, M1A or M1 Garand (service rifles), or a bolt-action rifle with a magazine capacity of at least 5 rounds with the capability of reloading very quickly (detachable magazine, or stripper clips into receiver magazine).
