Membership Guidelines and Application Form
From time to time we welcome applications for membership of the Stephen s Green Hibernian Club. These guidelines help to outline the essential requirements for an application. Our aim is to assist both candidates and their sponsors as much as possible. Members are reminded that in proposing or seconding a candidate for election to membership they owe a duty of care to their fellow members by accepting responsibility for their candidate. The Election process Key Requirements and Points of Note Please post your completed application form and relevant accompanying documentation (see below) to the Membership Department of the Stephen s Green Hibernian Club. You may also hand deliver your application form to Reception at the Club You will receive a letter acknowledging receipt of your application form Only correctly completed application forms will be placed in the waiting list to be reviewed by the Elections Committee Should your application form be incorrectly completed, you will be contacted by the Club and advised appropriately. The first step involves your application going through the Nomination process. If successful at this stage, your application may then proceed to the Election process. The entire election process takes a minimum of three months from receipt of your application form. The Club will write to you, advising you of the outcome of your application. Accompanying documentation A cover letting giving a deeper understanding of you and outlining the reasons why you wish to become a member A recent utility bill A passport sized photo Proposers and Seconders A proposer must be a Full Member of the Club for 5 years A seconder must be a Full Member of the Club for at least one year A member of the candidate s own family may act as a proposer or seconder Proposers and seconders are only required to sign their relevant sections of the form. However, the proposer and/or seconder shall, if so requested by the General Committee, attend a meeting of the General Committee in order to provide any other additional information required. Club Tours Whilst all candidates are actively encouraged to visit the Club with their proposer and seconder, we are happy to assist potential candidates by providing informal tours of the facilities to help them familiarise themselves with the our elegant house and all it has to offer. Full town Membership Categories Over the age of 34 years and living within a 60 km radius of the Club. Goes through the full nomination and election process, requiring both a proposer and seconder. Equity Member of the Club. Full CountrY Over the age of 34 years and lives on the island of Ireland (including Northern Ireland) outside a 60km radius of the Club. Goes through the full nomination and election process and requires proposer and seconder. Equity Member of the Club. Junior Town Between the ages of 21 and 34 and lives within a 60 km radius of the Clubhouse. Goes through the full nomination and election process and requires proposer and seconder. Junior Country Between the ages of 21 and 34 and lives on the island of Ireland outside a 60km radius of the Club. Goes through the full nomination and election process. Requires proposer and seconder. Provincial Over the age of 21 and resides outside a 160 km radius of the Club. Goes through the full nomination and election process as per Country membership. Candidates can opt for this category if they wish to be a non-equity member. This membership category has no voting rights. House Spouse of a Full Member. Applications made direct to General Committee by the full member though a standard letter Cadet Daughter or Son of an Ordinary Member between the ages of 18 25 years. Applications made direct to General Committee by the parent member though a standard letter Overseas Is a permanent resident outside Ireland when applying for membership. Election is by approval of the General Committee only. An Overseas member does not have access to the reciprocal clubs in their country of residence. Club Member A person residing on the island of Ireland over the age of 21 years can apply for Club membership. Election is by approval by the General Committee. A Club Member cannot remain a Club member for more than four years. A Club Member can apply for Ordinary membership by going through the normal election process at any period during their four year membership. Club membership carries no voting or equity rights. Affinity Member A candidate who qualifies through the Stephen s Green Hibernian Club Affinity Programme. Please contact the Club for details.
