the job This position is in the Health and Human Services Department, Public Health Services Division, supervises public health programs and nursing staff, and oversees complex public health nursing services in specialized programs. This position reports to the Director of Nursing Services and requires a Public Health Nurse Certificate issued by the California State Board of Registered Nursing. This position oversees other public health nursing staff s work, assists in hiring staff and oversees other personnel matters. This position will also: Draft and standardize procedures, and advise staff regarding policy and procedures. Have familiarity with information systems to produce and review reports. Extract data to analyze information to recommend improvements in programs and services. Oversee and addresses nursing staff training needs. Assist in planning and participating in in-service educational programs. Attend public healthrelated meetings and conferences. Oversee program audits and compliance. Collaborate with administration, other county health agencies and community-based organizations to develop needs assessments and long-term plans. Oversee and manage grant applications, compliance and funding streams.
the ideal candidate The incumbent will be a certified Public Health Nurse with experience providing nursing and Public Health program oversight in a fast- paced office environment, in the community setting and in family homes through home visits. The ideal candidate has exceptional communication and leadership skills to advance the organization and develop staff. This leader is flexible, a self-starter, collaborative, and a team focused individual who will foster autonomy within our nursing staff. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS INCLUDE: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse in California. Possession of a Certificate as a Public Health Nurse issued by the California State Board of Registered Nursing. Completion of sufficient education and experience to meet State of California certification requirements for Public Health Nurse. One two years of public health nursing experience. Knowledge of principles, methods, practices and current trends of general and public health nursing and preventative medicine. Demonstrate an understanding of policy, laws and regulations specific to public health programs. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver s License.
salary & benefits The annual salary range for this position is between $69,471 $88,691 DOE/DOQ. San Benito County has reciprocity with other CalPERS, 37 Act and other California retirement systems. Health Insurance: Coverage is provided through CSAC- EIA Health. Monthly County contributions for regular fulltime employees are $550.
