KEY TASKS To offer Psychological Assessment to consumers Psychological Assessment Differential diagnosis Specialist assessment Neuropsychological assessments Psychometric Risk assessment, in conjunction with MDT Offer Psychological Interventions to consumers Function as a team member of MDT To act as Key Worker to selected consumers To provide group therapy aimed at skill acquisition or specialist treatment To promote the professional discipline within the team EXPECTED OUTCOMES Provide selected initial assessment as part of MDT. Provide psychological assessments as soon as possible to consumers. Assessment is to be comprehensive and include risk management. Document assessment and liaise as appropriate with relevant parties e.g. MDT; GP. On the basis of assessment, provide follow-up or refer to other team members for their specialist skills, or to other community services that will more appropriately meet the consumer s needs. Refer to MDT Crisis Team as indicated. On the basis of assessment, provide specialist Psychological intervention and treatment as indicated. Provide treatment plan. Review and evaluate treatment. Discharge or refer as indicated. Document treatment and liaise as appropriate with relevant parties. Provide specialist reports as required. Attend referral meetings and contribute to triage discussions. Participate in team clinical reviews. Participate in policy meetings and service development planning. Liaise with other team members to provide a quality assured service. Provide consultancy and act as resource to the MDT, other mental health staff and the wider community. Participate in the duty roster. Involvement in care planning and care coordinating the consumer s care. Being responsible for care continuity for the consumer within the MDT. Broker other services of the MDT. Selected consumers are negotiated with the MDT and determined by: safe practice; type and complexity of interventions; level of experience of psychologist; type, acuity and complexity of client needs; other profession specific demands. Co-ordination with MDT to plan and develop skills acquisition focused group or treatment group. To facilitate or co-facilitate groups. To review and evaluate the group. In consultation with the MDT provide placement and supervision for Psychology students/interns. N.B. Supervision can only be provided by the senior psychologist with at least 3 years experience since qualification. Actively participate in In-services education. To comply with the requirements of the HPCA Act and to seek professional advice where indicated. Attend regular supervision with a senior clinician as appropriate to the needs of the psychologist. Identify professional development needs and attend education and training opportunities which target such needs. Participate in research programmes as appropriate. PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Registered Clinical Psychologist Minimum Preferred Qualification Experience Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Degree in Psychology. Post Graduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology or equivalent. NZ Registered Clinical Psychologist. Past experience in mental health. Able to provide specialized assessments and interventions including neuropsychological and psychometric testing. Experience in evidence based therapies. Experience in care co-ordination preferred but not essential. Experience in group therapy preferred, but not essential. Experience working within multidisciplinary team. Ability to engage and relate to young people and their families/whanau. Excellent communication (oral and written) skills. Tiime management skills. Innovative and quality focused. Flexible and accepting of change. Additional specialist training. Experience with young people with a diagnosis of first episode psychosis.
