Marilyn Emanuel Memorial Scholarship (1) Established in memory of Mrs. Marilyn Emanuel, a longtime Chandler resident and elementary school teacher at Knox Elementary. One award of $500. Pursuing a career in elementary education Cumulative grade point average of 2.5 Must attend Northern Arizona University Anna Marie & Peyton C. Jacobson Memorial Scholarship (1) Established to honor Anna Marie and Peyton Jacobson, longtime Chandler residents and community leaders. Anna Marie served as a member and former president of the CUSD governing board. One award of $500. 3.5 GPA or above Extra-curricular activities ** Lillian Landis Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by family and friends of Lillian Landis, a longtime Chandler resident. She was a single parent who strongly believed in family values and education. One award of $500. * Kent Michael Drake Memorial Scholarship (1) Established to honor his memory by helping other student athletes to attend college and achieve their educational and professional goals. Preference will be given to a student with an interest in a teaching career. One award of $1,000. (athletics) Pursuing a career in elementary or secondary education (preferred but not required) CEF Board of Directors Leadership Award in honor of John Coburn (1) This award recognizes leadership qualities in a student. The applicant must submit information regarding their performance in four key areas listed below. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation with special emphasis on leadership. One award of $500. CEF Board of Directors Service Award in honor of Michael Basha (1) This award recognizes a student s commitment to community service. The applicant must submit information regarding participation in extra-curricular activities and community service. One award of $500. * Maud Perry Daly Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by family and former students of Maud Perry Daly in appreciation for the impact she made on the lives of so many grateful Chandler High School students. She was a longtime Chandler resident, a dedicated teacher at CHS for 21 years, and Chairman of the English Committee after receiving her MA in 1943. One award of $500, renewable the 2 nd year if a 3.0 GPA is maintained. Minimum grade point average 3.0 Planning on attending a specific university (must attend an Arizona institution of higher learning), including work experience Academic achievements and honors Mardi Peterson Memorial Scholarships (2) Established by friends and family of Martha "Mardi" Peterson, Dean of Students, a dedicated, inspirational and popular teacher at Chandler High School. It is a perpetual scholarship through the Chandler Education Foundation, with award made annually to college-bound students who have overcome great odds to obtain their high school education. Recipient must be nominated through a letter of recommendation from a Chandler High School faculty member and should not be notified of the nomination. Two awards of $500. * Chandler High School Faculty Memorial Scholarship (4) Established to honor CHS faculty members who have had an important and positive impact on the lives of CHS students. Preference is given to students pursuing a career in secondary education. Four awards of $1,500. Minimum GPA 3.25 Pursuing a degree in education 2

Consideration will be given to students who were enrolled at Willis Junior High for a minimum of two academic years and who perform at least 10 hours of community service at Willis Junior High. One award of $500. Attended Willis Junior High for a minimum of two academic years One letter of recommendation from a Willis Junior High teacher One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher Displays good citizenship / respectful behavior Preference given to student who performs 10 hours of community service at Willis Junior High Humphrey Elementary PTO & Student Council Scholarship (1) Established by the Humphrey Elementary PTO and Student Council. Consideration will be given to students who were enrolled at Humphrey Elementary for a minimum of two academic years and who perform at least 10 hours of community service at Humphrey Elementary. One award of $500. Attended Humphrey Elementary for a minimum of two academic years One letter of recommendation from a Humphrey Elementary teacher One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher Displays good citizenship / respectful behavior Preference given to student who performs 10 hours of community service at Humphrey Elementary Andersen Elementary PTO Scholarship (1) Established by the Andersen Elementary PTO. Consideration will be given to students who were enrolled at Andersen Elementary for a minimum of two academic years and who perform at least 10 hours of community service at Andersen Elementary. One award of $500. Attended Andersen Elementary for a minimum of two academic years One letter of recommendation from an Andersen Elementary teacher One letter of recommendation from a high school teacher Displays good citizenship / respectful behavior Preference given to student who performs 10 hours of community service at Andersen Elementary *** Cathy L. McCabe Memorial (1) Established by family, friends and co-workers of Cathy L. McCabe. Cathy Lynn McCabe was a teacher, artist and principal of Knox Elementary School. One award of $500 to be awarded upon entrance to a college of education in student s junior year. One award of $500. Minimum GPA 3.5 Leadership Qualities Financial Need Pursuing a degree in Teaching Essay on reasons for becoming a teacher, qualities brought to the field, and contributions expected. * Vena Thomas Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by friends of Vena Thomas who was a teacher for CUSD for 27 years at Denver Elementary (now San Marcos) as a kindergarten teacher. One award of $1,000. Financial Need Pursing a degree in Education 3

*The Desper Family Scholarship for Women in Education and Sports (1) Established by friends and family to recognize and honor Michael Desper. Michael was a woman s athletic coach and educator in the Chandler School District. The scholarship was created to promote female athletes to enter the education field and coaching. One award of $500 is made on the basis of: Athletic achievements and honors Pursing career in Education/Coaching Philippi/Canfield Inspirational Scholarship (1) Established by the families of Krystal Philippi and Billy Canfield. Billy (deceased) and Krystal both demonstrated extraordinary courage and inspirational behavior in overcoming serious debilitating physical disabilities during and after their years as Chandler High school students. The award will be made to a college bound senior who has overcome a difficult and serious physical disability or ailment. The recipient must be nominated through a letter of recommendation from a Chandler High School faculty member and the student should not be notified of the nomination. One award of $1,000. * Solera Ladies Club Scholarship (5) Established by members of the Solera Ladies Club to provide financial assistance annually to five qualified female seniors who wish to pursue higher education at a college, university or vocational school. At least one of the five scholarships will be awarded to a student attending an accredited post-secondary vocational school or community college. Emphasis will be place on financial need. Five awards of $1,300. Minimum GPA 2.5 Achievement and awards Community involvement, work experience, volunteerism School activities US Citizenship Brett Bramsen Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by family in memory of Brett Bramsen, an outstanding scholar and leader both in the classroom and on the baseball field at Chandler High School. The recipient will be a senior on the Chandler High School varsity baseball team who bests exhibits the qualities of leadership, commitment and work ethic as a student as well as an athlete. Selection of the recipient to be made by the baseball coach based on grades, academic achievement and honors, participation in extra-curricular activities, and leadership qualities. One award of $1,000. Paul Charles Gaiser Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by family and friends in memory of Paul Gaiser, a committed educator of students at Chandler High School for 36 years. Patron saint of the student in the middle, Paul felt everyone should have the same opportunity to achieve. One award of $500. Minimum GPA 2.5 Planning to attend a community college or ASU ** William Stanton Scholarship (1) Established to honor retired elementary school teacher William Stanton, who taught at Knox Elementary from 1981 to 2005. One award of $1,000. provide documentation showing an ongoing history of community service and extra-curricular activities Pursuing Social Sciences as a field of study, e.g., (Anthropology, History, Education, Economics, etc.) Include a 500 word typed essay (Times New Roman, 12 pt. font) discussing the importance of working in the field of Social Services. 4

* Ted and Caroline Raper-Roberts Scholarship (1) Established by Ted and Caroline Raper-Roberts who as teachers, enjoy helping students. One award of $500, renewable for a 2 nd semester if a 3.0 GPA for 15 hours is maintained during the first semester. Financial Need Pursuing a career in the field of education Haley Knutsen Memorial Scholarship (4) Established by the family and friends of Haley Knutsen. Haley was a wonderful child who battled leukemia for eight years. She was a good daughter, friend, and sister to all who knew her. She possessed character beyond her years, in the caring she showed for others. Haley will remain in our hearts forever. One award of $1,000 will be given to a student from each high school. 100 hours of community service /character Special consideration will be given to a student who has overcome a serious obstacle, for instance, a childhood cancer survivor or a student that has endured some type of disability *** Ashley Lauren Mitchell Scholarship (1) Established by the friends and family of Ashley Lauren Mitchell. Imagine seeing someone so dedicated and talented that it inspired you to pursue your dreams; this someone is just the person that Ashley Lauren Mitchell was. From the tender age of three she pursued her passion for dance and developed many opportunities based on her strive for excellence. Tragically on March 15, 2004 Ashley s dreams were cut short at the young age of 16, but her spirit lives on continuing to influence the lives of others each and every day. One award of $500 will be given to a student from CHS or HHS. 500-750 word essay incorporating: 1) Your definition of excellence and how it applies to you and your goals 2) Why you feel that you deserve this scholarship to achieve success in your field of study 3) How do you plan on pursuing your dreams? Pursing a field of study in the Performing Arts (min. 25 hours) * Cliff & Loveta Hearn Memorial Scholarship (1), established by the family of Cliff and Loveta Hearn. This award gives the recipient full tuition each year for four years (renewable each year if 2.0 GPA is maintained) to an Arizona university OR full tuition each year for two years (renewable each year if 2.0 GPA is maintained) at an Arizona community college and two years at an Arizona university. The award is made on the basis of financial need and a demonstrated desire to excel through extracurricular activities, community service and work experience. 3.0 GPA or Above Planning on attending an Arizona public community college, college or university Enthusiasm 5

** Chamberlain Orthodontics Scholarship (1) Established by Dr. Tom Chamberlain for a qualified and motivated student who has shown an interest in Orthodontics as a career. An essay discussing their interest and goals in the profession will be used as part of the qualifying criteria. One award of $500. Minimum GPA 3.5 Pursuing a particular field of study in Orthodontics Daniel J. Neville Memorial Scholarship (1) Established in honor of Daniel Neville, husband of Lorah Neville, the former Director of Instruction for CUSD. He himself was an instructor for the Kyrene School District and together they have improved the lives of those around them. One award of $500. Pursuing a career in the field of music *** Toyota Financial Services - Making Life Easier (5) Established by Toyota Financial Services. This award gives the recipient up to $4,000 over four years (renewable each year if a 2.0 GPA is maintained). Each year the award amount is $1,000. In addition to the criteria listed below, the applicant must complete an essay answering the following two questions: Describe a significant experience you ve had (i.e. risk, achievement, random event, etc.) and discuss its impact positive or negative on you and how you handled any subsequent results (Two pages maximum, typed, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point Times Roman). How did your community service involvement contribute to your personal development and future goals? (One page maximum, typed, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point Times Roman). Academic performance 2.0 GPA or higher Good standing in the community and school ** Herbert Family Scholarship (1) All six Herbert children were raised in CUSD schools; they credit the education they received from CUSD as providing a solid foundation for their post-secondary academic pursuits. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who comes from a large family (four or more siblings). Applicants must write an essay (criteria below). One award of $1,000. 3.25 GPA or higher Write an essay of approximately 250 words introducing your family and explaining how being part of a large family impacts his/her pursuit of academic goals. * Larry and Kay Lyman Scholarship (1) Established by the families of Larry and Kay Lyman to honor their years of service with the Chandler Unified School District. Through their active involvement with Chandler High School students, they wanted to assist at least one student from CHS each year to fulfill their college dreams! Recipient must plan to attend a Maricopa Community College. This scholarship awards the recipient up to $2,000 over two years (renewable after one year if a 2.5 GPA is maintained). Each year the award amount is $1,000. 3.0 GPA or higher Plans to attend a Maricopa Community College Renewal based on maintaining minimum of 2.5 college GPA 6

** Aka Nui Memorial Scholarship (1) Established by his wife Nel, and his family, to encourage musicians and performers to share their love of the fine arts with others. This tribute is in honor of Arnie Becker, an entertainer and musician, who brought joy, laughter, and song to many throughout the years. Arnie s gifts of love didn t end with music. Using his talents of song and dance, he raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charitable organizations. One award of $500. 3.0 GPA or higher Pursuing a music and entertainment field of study Write an essay explaining what drives your passion to the field of music. ** Al Howell Track & Field Scholarship (1) Al Howell was the head track and field coach for Chandler High School from 1963 through 1973. He served Chandler High School as its Director of Athletics from 1965 to 1975. From 1976 to 1988 he was the District Director of Athletics for the Chandler Unified School District. During his track and field coaching years he led Chandler s boys track and field teams to the state championship in 1972, and a state runner-up finish in 1973. Coach was a renowned pole vault coach and the vaulters he coached broke the AZ state high school record and held it for many years during his coaching tenure. This scholarship is being established to recognize Al Howell s memory as the head track and field coach at Chandler and his years as the Director of Athletics for Chandler High School and the Chandler School District. He passed away at the age of 81 on April 27, 2010. One award of $500. Female or Male student 2.0 GPA or higher (based on a 4.0 scale with four being the highest) Participation in the high school track and field program for at least two years Student must plan to attend a post high school educational institution Submit an essay of not more than 500 words titled, How my participation in high school s track and field team enhanced by high school education. Sylvia Encinas Scholarship (1), established to honor Sylvia Encinas who served as a volunteer and an employee of Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary for over 25 years. The recipient of this scholarship should have been involved in the Hartford community and should represent the values of Sylvia through their service, their volunteerism and through their compassion for others. One award of $1,000. *** Denny s at Dobson & Chandler Achievement Scholarship (2) Preference is given to two high school students (one female and one male) from the Chandler area demonstrating financial need with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Recipients should be academically well-rounded and active in their community. Two letters of recommendation for each student are to be submitted extolling involvement in leadership activities. Denny s Achievement Scholars are students who demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Two awards of $500. Your application will be evaluated on a one-page essay detailing your: Individual determination to succeed Future goals and plans to achieve them Ability to communicate the hardships you have overcome or currently face Self motivation in completing challenging coursework A demonstrated need for financial assistance *AAUW Arizona SE Valley Branch Scholarship: (2) The American Association of University Women was founded in 1881 by 17 like-minded women who defied society s standards by earning college degrees. The founding members envisioned an organization in which women college graduates could band together to open doors of higher education to other women. Today, the AAUW is comprised of more than 100,000 throughout the country whose mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. In keeping with the national vision of educating women, in 2010 the AAUW Southeast Valley Branch, Sun Lakes, Arizona elected to establish, and began funding, a local scholarship for senior girls attending CUSD High Schools. Two awards of $1,000 each to two female students. Minimum GPA of 2.5 Planning to attend an in-state community college or university 7

* Sherry Nance Bourget Memorial Scholarship (1) Established to honor Sherry Nance Bourget who was a loving mother and friend. She had a passion for learning all her life. She also was dedicated to helping others and this did not stop when she became ill. This scholarship has been set up in her memory. One award of $1,000. Minimum GPA 3.5 Pursuing the field of counseling with special attention for those who are focused on drug / alcohol counseling. CTA Freedom Scholarship (1) Established in 2012 by the CTA Freedom Elementary Site Council and supported by the CTA Freedom PTO. Applicants must have attended CTA Freedom Elementary for a minimum of one academic year and performed a minimum of 10 hours of community service at CTA Freedom Elementary. One award of $500. Scholarship criteria listed below in order of importance. minimum of 20 hours, 10 of those hours must be performed at CTA Freedom outside of normal school hours. Applicants must submit a 100 word or less essay (Times New Roman, 12 pt. font) reflecting on the impact that CTA Freedom had on you and/or work experience Minimum GPA of 3.0 Minimum one letter of recommendation from a teacher or community leader * Dr. Paul Ritz Leadership Scholarship (1) Dr. Paul Ritz was the Frye Elementary Principal for 25 years. To honor his legacy, the Frye Student council established this scholarship for a former Frye student. One award of $500. Minimum GPA of 3.0 Attended Frye Elementary for a minimum of one year * Norman Saba Memorial Scholarship (5) Norman Saba had a love for farming, watermelons being one of his favorite. The Saba family wanted to give others a chance to pursue their dreams in the agricultural field as well. Five awards of $2,000. Minimum GPA of 2.5 Planning on attending an in-state university Planning on pursuing an Agricultural field of study 8

Oren & Donna Wallace Service Scholarship (2) Over the past 28 years in Chandler, both Oren and Donna Wallace have served in a multitude of enlisted, elected and volunteer capacities. Both Oren and Donna have served on the Chandler City Council and are the only husband and wife to serve to date. Oren is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and has been a business owner in Chandler for over 40 years, as well as serving on numerous other local boards. While Oren takes much pride in each of the organizations he is involved with, he is most proud of his membership in the Masonic Lodge. Donna has also dedicated much of her life and time in Chandler to service and giving. In addition to the many boards and committees Donna has served on, such as 27 years with the P.E. O and Chandler Service Club she also served 7 ½ years on the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board, including twice as President. To sum up Oren and Donna s feelings why service is so important to them they stated, We believe it is a responsibility to make your community a better place to live for all by having been in it. We have been so blessed with a wonderful family, a business that supported our family, a top education system to educate our children and a wonderful community to raise our family. Chandler has given us so many opportunities. We are so blessed to have two wonderful children who also care so deeply about others. Cardenas Memorial Scholarship (1) Virginia Cardenas always remembered her Mexican roots and spent her career working with recent immigrants, first at Chandler High and later at Arizona State University as the eighth grade advisor in the Hispanic Mother Daughter Program. This scholarship is meant to continue her passion and dedication to higher education as a pathway for future success for Hispanic students. One award of $500. Minimum GPA of 3.0 Please complete a 500 word essay (Times New Roman 12 pt. font) discussing your Hispanic heritage and addressing your future plans for higher education. Moyer Scholarship Fund Arizona Classic Jazz Society (2) The Arizona Classic Jazz Society was established in 1987 and part of their mission is to support the artists and seek to inform, educate, and entertain both listeners and dancers and involve persons of all ages, with a special emphasis on youth.
