J-PARC Research Complex

Korean Users Community! Condensed matter, neutrino, hadron and accelerator communities in Korea are very active and productive with strong international collaborations.! There has been a long history of strong collaborations between Korean and Japanese scientific groups since 1984 in all the research areas of J-PARC.! Core groups of Korean communities have been actively participating in researches related to J- PARC.

Related Projects in Korea! Accelerator " Proton Accelerator Project (2002 ~ 2012) " Upgrade of Pohang Accelerator (2009 ~ 2012) " Heavy Ion Accelerator: KoRIA (2010 ~ 2015)! Neutrino " RENO, Reactor Neutrino Project (2006 ~ 2019)! Neutron Scattering " Cold Neutron Project of KAERI (2003 ~ 2010)

Why is CKorJ-PARC important?! J-PARC has been seen a very useful research facility for the future developments of Korean physics communities.! There are already over 200 potential users of J-PARC in Korea.! In order to support the research activities of these Korean users, it is essential to secure long-term funding from Korean government.! The geographical proximity is also very favorable for Korean communities.

Brief History of CKorJ-PARC! 1984 - : Collaborations between Korean and Japanese groups on the areas of neutrino, hadron, accelerator, and condensed matter physics! 2006 : 1 st meeting of Korean scientists to discuss CKorJ-PARC! 2007-2009 : Discussions on scientific cases of CKorJ-PARC! 2009-2010 : Meetings to discuss CKorJ-PARC & Presentation to Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of Korean government! 2010 April : Submission of Proposal! 2010 May : Official Approval of CKorJ-PARC by Korean government

CKorJ-PARC Project

CKorJ-PARC Project!Budget : 500 MWon/year (~ 0.5 M$/y)!Funding Agency : National Research Foundation, Korea!Organization : Center for Korean J-PARC Users at Seoul National University!Participating groups: "University-National Lab.-Industry: ~ 22 groups

Aims of CKorJ-PARC! CKorJ-PARC is the official representative of the Korean J-PARC users.! We are going to support research activities at J-PARC by Korean users.! We want to upgrade the level of collaborations between Korea and Japan to a more futuristic and productive one, sharing mid-to-long term strategy on related fields.
