ONE PROGRAM MANY OPTIONS By combining the practice of French with thematic curriculum, our summer courses offer a unique immersion into French culture amongside students from all over the world. Classes are conducted by professors of Carré international with an experience of teaching French as a Foreign Language. Program open to anyone over 18, with no pre-requisite of diploma and/or French proficiency (except «French cinema» track for which a completed B1 level is strongly recommended). Mornings are dedicated to the practice of language with 45 hours of oral and written communication, reinforcement of grammatical structure, vocabulary enrichment and oral practice in an audio lab. For the afternoons, students can choose: one of 6 thematic tracks which all include 30 hours of lectures and site visits a 30 hour «Leisure & visits» program. Each session students can participate, free of charge, to one of the two one-day excursions scheduled on week-ends, provided that places are available. Afternoon thematic tracks can only be taken in addition to the French language practice and choice made upon pre-registration. Classes of levels (A1 to C1) and thematic tracks will only open if a sufficient number of students is reached. CULTURE & HERITAGE Session 1 and/or 2 Embark on a journey into French language and culture. French chanson / Gastronomy (beginner to intermediate) Art / Literature (intermediate to advanced) HISTORY I : THE BATTLE OF NORMANDY Session 1 Experience the events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Conferences, testimonies, visits of D-Day landing sites. FRENCH CINEMA Session 1 Taught in French or English depending on participants profile Travel through the history of French cinema, from 1895 silent short films to 90s movies. Thematic sequences, behind-the-scenes of a movie theater, films. In partnership with Café des Images. Levels B1 and higher
enjoy a weekly journey through the richness of our historical heritage! BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT Session 1 and/or 2 Acquire the key tools for international business: innovation management, team management and marketing. Taught in English HISTORY II : PEACE & HUMAN RIGHTS Session 2 Through the lessons of tolerance and courage of our heroic elders, the module focuses on human rights and the efforts made to build policies and institutions able to prevent future conflicts and preserve peace. In partnership with I2DHP. Taught in French or English depending on participants profile EQUESTRIAN NORMANDY Session 2 Discover the richness of the Normandy equine sector through thematic visits (sport, breeding, research, leisure). Access to online training modules of «Equine French» (prior to the program). In partnership with Pôle Hippolia and le Conseil des Chevaux de Normandie. LEISURE & VISITS Session 1 and/or 2 You do not wish to add a thematic track to your language training? We provide a program of leisure activities (treeclimbing, canoe-kayak, pétanque, afternoon at the beach ) and local visits (museums, visit of a distillery, Bayeux, movie ).
REGISTRATION Pre-registration must be made online starting January 5, 2017 at international.unicaen.fr/cie. Once the registration is accepted, students receive the payment information. Additional excursion: 30 CERTIFICATION Sessions 1 and 2: University certificate (with grades) Possibility to register to the DELF/DALF session (A1 to C1) at the end of session 2 for an additional fee of 95. ROOM & BOARD 2 options: University residence Single 9m 2 room with shower, toilets, washbasin and internet access, in a co-ed building located a few yards from the classrooms. Rate: 255* per session host family Single room with half-board (breakfast and dinner) downtown Caen or suburbs with internet access. Rate: 485* per session. Lunches and dinners can be taken at the University restaurant ( 5,95* per meal). * 2016 rates for information. For housing, rates include a 25 reservation fee.
