Purpose of the Role : To contribute to the provision of a Child Rehabilitation Service that is collaborative, responsive to the needs of the clients, family, whānau and upholds the principles of partnership. KEY TASKS Physiotherapy Services are delivered in accordance with the NZSP Standards of Practice and as part of the collaborative team process. These Physiotherapy services include assessment, program and goal planning, intervention, discharge planning and review where appropriate. Administrative tasks related to the requirements of the Child Rehabilitation Service are completed in a timely and efficient manner Effective working relationships are formed with key persons. Participation in Child Rehabilitation Service functioning occurs. EXPECTED OUTCOMES is a member of the multidisciplinary team and works within all collaborative team processes. Client s function is assessed to identify abilities and needs and for goal planning in conjunction with the team members including the child, family/ whanau Therapy interventions are planned, evaluated and progressed with family / whanau and other team members to meet client s needs within a developmental, cultural and environmental context. Interventions are implemented in a timely, safe and effective manner in accordance with the agreed plan. Written communication is effective, timely, comprehensive and meets the requirements of the service and stakeholders. Discharge planning is timely, effective, and involves consultation with community personnel as required. Documentation is up to date, legible, complete and is written in accordance with Waitemata District Health Board Standard. Equipment and environmental systems are managed effectively and efficiently. Statistics are completed in accordance with service procedure. The Child Rehabilitation Service is responsive to the client s cultural needs. Relationships are established with child, family, health and community service providers. Therapist will be an effective and active member of the Child Rehabilitation Service. Contribute to staff meetings and staff training within the Child Rehabilitation Service and within the Child Health Service. KEY TASKS Participation in supervision, professional development and training is undertaken in an ongoing and regular basis. Physiotherapy services meet the needs of children and families safely and effectively. Work practice is maintained within Waitemata DHB policy framework. Other reasonable tasks required by the Manager to meet the overall purpose of the position. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Contribute to service development and review as appropriate. Contribute to and support professional development of colleagues, rotational staff and students. High quality professional skills and standards of care are achieved and maintained. is responsible for managing their CPD portfolio as outlined in the HPCA Act 2003, and meeting NZ Physiotherapy Board requirements, and others as identified in the Orientation Folders. Work within the Privacy Act, Patient Codes of Rights and Responsibilities, and others as identified in the Orientation Folders. Other reasonable tasks are performed. Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive. PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Child Rehabilitation Service, Minimum Preferred Qualification Physiotherapy Degree or Diploma. Registration with New Zealand Physiotherapy Board. Current Practicing Certificate. Accredited Assessor. Current driver s license. Experience Ability to work in partnership with families. Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team. Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications in the Health Sector. Paediatric experience of 2-3 years. Post Graduate Physiotherapy qualification in related field (rehabilitation, paediatrics preferred). Skills/ Knowledge/ Behaviour Excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
