A search was conducted but the suspect was not located. Alert 1 assisted with a search for vehicle burglary suspects. A search was conducted but yielded negative results. The event was shared on Twitter in real time. NSU met with the manager of the Sanford River Rats baseball team in reference to planning for an upcoming first responder night. NSU ensured a Nextdoor post was sent to certain areas of the East Region in reference to recent overnight vehicle burglaries. NSU attended the SCIM meeting at the Pineview office.
NSU met with crime prevention of Longwood PD to discuss their programs and outreach to the community. NSU saturated NSA 61 in the South Region. The NSU made contact with multiple residents as well as provided presence in the neighborhoods. NSU conducted a safety presentation to 3-5 year olds at Rainbow Child Care in Heathrow. We discussed how they can keep themselves safe and let them tour a patrol vehicle. Approximately 30 kids were in attendance. NSU attended the monthly meeting of the Central Florida Crime Prevention Association, hosted by the Winter Park Police Department. NSU met with the management of Serena Winter Park Apartment Homes to discuss crime prevention measures for their property, as well as for their residents. A community meeting to discuss crime prevention was scheduled. NSU conducted extra patrols in references to recent vehicle burglaries. Contact was made with several residents and crime prevention measures were discussed. Public Information Office PIOs posted to Nextdoor.com a crime information bulletin regarding recent burglaries to unlock vehicles. In two of the case, vehicles were stolen due to spare keys that were left inside. Residence were urged to report suspicious activity, keep vehicles locked, and never leave valuables inside or on display to include spare keys and garage door openers.
