DuringtheKeepWayneCountyBeautifulinitiativeECAmemberswereamongthe firsttoparticipateintheadoptahighwayprogram.whenthetroopsreturned homefromdessertstorm;ecaplacedyellowribbonsoneachtelephonepole, treeandlightpoleenteringwaynecounty. In1987whentheRonaldMcDonaldHouse(TheHouseThatLoveBuilt)wasbuilt ingreenvillenc,ecamembersfinishedoneoftheroomsatacostof$5,000.00 andpledgedanother$5,000.00in1998torefurnishtheroom. WhenGoldsboroturned150yearsoldin1997theassociationdonated150books tosixwaynecountyschoolstargetinggrades2through8toassistwithmeeting thestateabcrequirementforreading. In1999ECAmembersdonated12handmadebirdhouseswithcarvedbirdsto decoratetheannualnationalchristmastreeasarequestfromnorthcarolina s firstlady,mrs.carolynhunt. EachyearECAmembersdonatetoSamaritanPurse(ThePowerofaSimpleGift) byfillingshoeboxes.theseshoeboxesarefilledwithschoolsupplies,toys, hygienearticles,candies,etc.forchildrenaroundtheworldtosharetheloveof JesusChristandtobringthemjoyandhappinessatChristmas.
