UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA DA 2069 OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT 300 Lakeside Drive Oakland. California 9461 2-3550 Phon~ : (510) 987-9074 Fax: (510) 987-9086 July 29, 1996 CHANCELLORS Delegation of Authority--Exceptions to Staff Policy 51. Reduced Fee Enrollments Staff Policy 51 provides that regular status employees in career positions who meet the admission requirements of the University are eligible for a reduced fee benefit. Employees are eligible for two-thirds' reduction of the University Registration Fee and the University Educational Fee for up to nine units or three regular session University courses per quarter, whichever is greater. At the January 1990 meeting, The Regents authorized the President to approve for selected nursing employees reduced fee enrollment exceptions for up to twelve units or four regular session University courses per quarter, whichever is greater, and to delegate to Chancellors the authority to approve similar exceptions. Effective July 1, 1996, you are authorized to grant exceptions to Staff Policy 51 so that selected nursing employees in the classes shown in the Attachment may be eligible to receive reduced fees, subject to the terms of the January 19, 1990 Regental authorization, a copy of which is attached. This delegation supersedes Delegation of Authority 1017, dated March 22, 1990, from President Gardner to the Chancellors. Any redelegation of this authority shall be in writing with copies provided to the Senior Vice President--Business and Finance, the Assistant Vice President--Human Resources, and the Special Assistant--Coordination & Review. Sincerely, Attachments Richard C. Atkinson President cc : Members, President's Cabinet Assistant Vice President Levin Special Assistant Gardner Principal Officers of The Regents
