Welcome to the 31 ST Annual TENNESSEE APRIL 9, 2016
Dear Students, Coaches, Parents, and Administrators: Welcome to the Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament. We congratulate the teams on their success at regional competitions and are delighted that all of you are here to compete against the best teams in the state. Hosting the state tournament is a long tradition here at the University of Tennessee. Some of our best faculty and students have volunteered to help with this tournament as part of our mission to serve the citizens of the state. We hope that you will come away with a favorable impression of the importance of the role of the research university in our society. Everyone who participates in Science Olympiad understands the nature of the competition. We have done our best to organize a rigorous, fair, honest, and fun event. Best of luck to all teams and the winners who will carry our state tradition forward to the National Tournament on May 18-21, 2016 at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Regardless of the final results, each team should be proud of its efforts. The students, coaches, and parents have spent long hours preparing for this event and have learned much about the concepts and processes of science and engineering, and about working with members of a team toward a common goal. These are lessons for a lifetime and the real value of Science Olympiad. Dr. Nita Ganguly, Director Jessica Brannon, Administrative Assistant Dianna Beeler, Accounting Coordinator
