SCHOLARSHIPS Financial aid may be available to you. FIDM awards a number of scholarships for new students, administered through recommendation from the Admissions Office. Scholarships are offered based on a varying combination of qualities such as academic merit, financial need, extensive industry experience, or artistic achievement. Scholarship recipients are expected to be particularly strong and positive leaders once they are in attendance at FIDM, excelling academically and representing FIDM well within the community. Many scholarships are determined through review of Admissions application materials. Certain competitive scholarships have additional requirements. FULL SCHOLARSHIPS First Year Only FIDM NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION High School Seniors,Graduates & College Transfers This scholarship for new students offers a full one-year scholarship to one student in each of the following seven categories: Marketing Executive of Tomorrow, Interior Designer of Tomorrow, Graphic Designer of Tomorrow, Fashion Designer of Tomorrow, Visual Designer of Tomorrow, Trend Forecaster of Tomorrow, and Social Media Marketer of Tomorrow. Additionally, there are $5,000 scholarships awarded to the top three finalists in each category. First year only. Non-renewable. FIDM FASHION CLUB SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION Any student member of an approved FIDM Fashion Club Chapter (Club Leader/Club Member) is eligible to enter the FIDM Fashion Club Scholarship Competition in the spring of his/her junior and senior years. One winner is selected from entrants in the junior year to receive a full one-year scholarship to attend FIDM after completing the senior year. Additionally, two winners are selected from entrants in their senior year, and each winner receives a $5,000 scholarship. CALIFORNIA FCCLA/FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA - FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP Two full one-year scholarships toward tuition, books, and most supplies are given to the First Place winners in Fashion Design and Interior Design, selected by FCCLA in their statewide (California) competition. The Interior Design competition may be entered by individuals as well as teams of two or three students. If a team wins the First Place Interior Design competition, the full-year tuition will be divided up evenly among the members of the winning team. This award amount is non-transferable among team members. First year only. Non-renewable. FCCLA/FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP First Place winners in the Senior and Occupational Divisions of the National Leadership Conference STAR events in Fashion Design and Fashion Construction are awarded a full one-year scholarship toward tuition, books, and most supplies. First year only. Non-renewable. THE GUESS SCHOLARS PROGRAM High School Seniors, Continuing FIDM Students Two full one-year scholarships toward tuition, books, and most supplies are awarded to outstanding FIDM students. Students majoring in Fashion Design, Fashion Knitwear Design, The Business of Denim, and Professional Studies (with a Fashion Design specialization) are eligible to apply. One-year only. Non-renewable.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS FIDM FASHION CLUB PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP High School Seniors This $4,000 scholarship opportunity is open to all Presidents of FIDM s official Fashion Clubs. To be eligible for this scholarship, the graduating President must hand the club over to a new President for the following school year. Renewable for up to 4 years with a 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. FIDM FASHION CLUB ACTIVE MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP Official FIDM Fashion Club student members (Club Member/Club Leader) who have attended 8 or more FIDM Fashion Club meetings during the academic year in which their FIDM Application is submitted are eligible to receive a $2,000 scholarship. Information is available at FashionClub.com. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. FCCLA/FAMILY, CAREER & COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP FCCLA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are FCCLA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. Renewable for up to 4 years with a 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. First Place winners in the Senior and Occupational Divisions of the following FCCLA State Leadership Conference competition categories will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship toward their first year at FIDM: Fashion Design, Fashion Construction, and Recycle & Redesign. Non-renewable. PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP College Transfers Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for Associate of Arts Degree granting colleges. Students who transfer to FIDM, having been a qualified Phi Theta Kappa member at another 2-year college, may receive a $3,000 scholarship toward their initial year at FIDM. Only students who come to FIDM with the Phi Theta Kappa designation achieved at their prior college are eligible for the award and the renewal possibilities. Renewable for up to 4 years with qualified Phi Theta Kappa membership at FIDM and consecutive attendance. ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP High School Seniors, Graduates & College Transfers Students must demonstrate academic achievement (GPA and course rigor evaluation) through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. ARTISTIC/INDUSTRY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP High School Seniors, Graduates & College Transfers Students with a minimum 2.75 GPA must demonstrate artistic achievement and/or demonstrate extensive industry background through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary. FIDM COLLEGE TRANSFER MERIT SCHOLARSHIP College Transfer Students only This scholarship opportunity is open to college transfer students (A.A. or higher) from a U.S. accredited college who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students transferring college course work into FIDM s A.A. Degree Program. 02/05

FIDM PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION MERIT SCHOLARSHIP College Graduates This scholarship opportunity is open to college graduates (A.A. or higher) from a U.S. accredited college who demonstrate academic achievement through Admissions application materials. Additional essay required. Amounts vary. Available only to first-time FIDM Students attending FIDM s Professional Designation Program. Non-renewable. JUNIOR ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP High School Juniors Academically qualified high school students who enroll during their junior year are eligible for scholarship consideration starting at $500 toward their first year at FIDM. Renewable for up to 4 years with a 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. DECA/DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP DECA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students who are DECA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. DECA students who are First Place winners in state competitions in the Apparel and Accessories Marketing and Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan categories are eligible to receive an additional $3,000 scholarship. Non-renewable. FBLA/FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP FBLA students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship at FIDM. Students who are FBLA State Officers at the time of their acceptance to FIDM are eligible to receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. ROP/ROCP/REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL (CENTERS &) PROGRAMS AND CTE/CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to ROP/ROCP/CTE students toward their first year at FIDM when these two important qualifications are met: The student s participation in the organization must occur during his/her senior year. FIDM.EDU The student must complete the ROP/ROCP/CTE course, and the course must relate to one of FIDM s Majors. Such courses would include, but are not limited to: Computer Graphics, E-Marketing, Retail Merchandising/Sales, Marketing/Advertising, Business Management/Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design/ Merchandising, Marketing/Advertising, and Video Production. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. CALIFORNIA FCCLA/FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA - FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP A $1,000 scholarship for their first year at FIDM is awarded to high school students who are members in their senior year. 03/05

SKILLSUSA SCHOLARSHIP SkillsUSA students are eligible for scholarships in these State Conference competition categories: Advertising Design, Television (Video) Production, and Digital Cinema Production. Scholarships awarded in each category are as follows: Gold Medalist (First Place) - $1500 Silver Medalist (Second Place) - $1000 Bronze Medalist (Third Place) - $500 In the case of Television (Video) Production, which may be entered by individual students or teams of two students, if a team of two students wins, both contestants are eligible to receive the scholarship. One scholarship per medalist level will be awarded in Advertising Design and Digital Cinema Production. CALIFORNIA ACADEMIC DECATHLON SCHOLARSHIP High School students who are members of an academic decathlon team in their junior or senior year are eligible to receive $1,000. NORDSTROM FASHION AMBASSADOR PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP High School Seniors High School students who are members of the BP Nordstrom Fashion Ambassador Program in their senior year are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their first year at FIDM. Renewable for up to 4 years with 3.0 GPA at FIDM and consecutive attendance. ART EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP High School Seniors High School seniors attending one of the following high schools are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship: Los Angeles: Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts San Francisco: Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) Orange County: Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA) San Diego: School of Creative & Performing Arts (SCPA) FIDM SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION The FIDM Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for continuing FIDM students who meet the special criteria of the Allocation Committee. Potential applicants must be entering their second year of studies and be recommended by their Student Advisor. 04/05

FIDM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT ESSAY DIRECTIONS In order to write a focused, concise, yet well-developed essay, please read the directions and be sure to address the following topics as you develop your essay: Include your career goals and plans; demonstrate your knowledge of the industry and why you have chosen your major. Give highlights of your talents, achievements, awards, etc. (sewing, sketching, artistic, academic, work achievements). How have these factors prepared you to excel in our major? Explain the financial reason you need this scholarship. Why should FIDM choose to invest in you? In writing your essay, be sure to: Meet a minimum 250 words requirement please type. Use correct grammar. Use correct punctuation. Write four to five paragraphs. Have an opening that is developed through a minimum of two paragraphs. Have a strong, meaningful conclusion. Check for typographical/spelling errors. Please note: The scholarships listed above are subject to change. Some scholarships are awarded for the first year only. Many FIDM scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 at FIDM and financial eligibility in many cases. Students must reapply annually and be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status. Students must also maintain 12 units quarterly to qualify for scholarship renewal. All A.A. and B.S. students must complete each 9-month academic year within 12 months to be eligible for renewal. For scholarships based on the student s active participation in a designated High School or College organization, upon showing appropriate documentation proving membership, students can have their Admissions Advisor include these scholarships in their tuition plan. An annual award is disbursed over three quarters at FIDM. Students may qualify for more than one scholarship but not to exceed the cost of tuition, books and supplies. In order for scholarship recipients to use their award(s) at FIDM, they must plan to begin their studies at FIDM in the first or second academic quarter for which they are eligible following their graduation from high school. In addition, they must meet all Admissions Requirements, including a recommendation from their Admissions Advisor. Scholarships are Non-Transferable.
