Dr Michal Szypulski (m), MD MRCGP Dr Szypulski is the allocated named accountable GP currently for all patients at the surgery. He speaks English and Polish. Clinical Governance Lead, Safeguarding children lead, Joint Infection Control lead, Caldicott Guardian, joined in May 2014. Dr Anne Beden (f), MB ChB USMLE MD MRCS MRCGP Dr Anne Beden is currently undertaking minor surgery for all our patients. If you would like your lumps and bumps removed or skin tags and require steroid injections then please inform the reception who will book your appointment with her. She speaks English, Arabic, German, French and Italian. Interest in minor surgery, joined in August 2015. Dr Aneeka Ahmed (f), MBBS DRCOG MRCGP Dr Ahmed is our resident female GP for anyone that would like to see a female GP. She speaks English, Urdu and Punjabi, joined in October 2015. Other clinical staff: Jane Knowles (f) (Nurse Practitioner): Smears from end of December, undertaking training at Hazeldene surgery, Diabetes checks, Bloods, Vaccinations, Immunisations, ECG, Asthma but not spirometry. Elizabeth Arrandale BSc (Hons) (f) (Health Care Assistant and phlebotomist): Smoking cessation, spirometry, COPD, Asthma, diabetes checks, NHS health checks, bloods any age apart from under 16 years old. Vaccinations, Immunisations, ECG, hypertension. Flu vaccines, B12, Shingles. Joined in October 2014. Administrative staff: Provider: Dr M S Islam (m), MBBS MRCGP Dr Islam has been the clinical GP at the surgery for over 30 years and is now taking a back seat having worked hard looking after patient needs in the local area. Manager: Dr Quamrul Islam (m), BSc (Sp Hons) MBA DBA DipM Dr Quamrul Islam is currently the practice manager available for any patient or staff concerns, he also is a qualified accountant and holds level 5 QCF in health and social care. He speaks English and Bengali. Reception Ms Samantha Trayers (f), joined in May 2004. Ms Emma Dixon (f), joined in July 2014. Ms Ieva Bickunaite (f), she speaks English and Lithuanian, joined in December 2014. Artane Medical Centre is a well-established GP Surgery that was purpose built in 1988 and practice owned, with on-site parking. Our premises are modern with special consideration for the disabled, including - parking, access and many internal facilities. We are a PMS practice, going live in October 2001.Our practice area covers Crumpsall and Cheetham Hill primarily, with some patients in Middleton and Blackley. Our 2,185 patients are the whole population, all ages, all medical conditions and disabilities The age breakdown of our whole population of 2,185 patients is as follows: Patients Aged 0-18 = 436, 20%; Pts aged 17-24: 207, 9%; Pts 25-34: 360, 16% Pts aged 35-44: 300, 14%; Pts aged: 45-54: 324, 15%; Pts aged 55-64: 272, 12%; Pts aged 65-74: 193, 9%; Pts aged <16: 379, 17%; Pts aged >75: 138, 6% The registered activities and service types have been agreed by the partners and practice manager in accordance with CQC guidance. Immunisations: Childhood immunisations / Foreign travel immunisations Health Protection / Preventative immunisations e.g. Influenza immunisations Lifestyle management / weight loss / exercise and smoking cessation advice - for patients who want to lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Employee medicals Our GP s are able to carry out medical reports and review. Respiratory patients Artane Medical Centre has facilities for spirometry / lung function testing. Diabetic patients Artane Medical Centre provides ongoing care for our diabetic patients. This is run by our trained Nurse Practitioner, HCA and GPs. COPD/Asthma patients Artane Medical Centre provides ongoing care for our COPD/Asthma patients. This is run by our trained HCA and GPs. Page 4
Baby Clinic: Artane Medical Centre provides ongoing care for our younger patients. This is run by our trained Nurse Practitioner and GPs. Phlebotomy Artane Medical Centre offers morning sessions for blood tests every weekday of the week. Minor surgery - We offer a number of minor operations/surgeries for dermatology related concerns. The minor operations are held with Dr Beden Well person checks These can be carried out with any practice nurse/hca Wound dressings Our practice nurses are trained in all aspects of wound care ECG monitoring - We offer ECG Screening, as we have an ECG machine in the practice Cervical screening - Our practices nurses are qualified to carry out cervical screening and tests in the form of cervical smears. In these circumstances we would encourage you to continue seeing the same health professional and wherever possible we will facilitate this through our appointments system. However, if you have a new problem, the doctor or nurse that you normally see is not available, or you would like to see someone else then we would encourage you to see any of the doctors or nurses at the practice. Learning and Training We have plans to become a training practice and are committed to the training of our doctors and nurses all of whom are closely supervised. We believe in life-long learning and all the health professionals here and administrative staff, undergo an annual appraisal where the goals of the individual, teams and practice are discussed and agreement reached on the way forward.
