On 5/20/2016 an officer was injured while attempting to locate a crime suspect. At this time there is no expected date of return. On 5/25/2016 our department was called to Bellanca Avenue for multiple shots fired. Soon after arrival we learned that we had a homicide crime scene. Per protocol the case was referred to the Allegheny County Homicide Unit and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office for follow-up. On that night the suspect was arrested and a handgun was recovered in the area. The following officers were involved and professionally contributed to the incident that evening. Brentwood: Sgt. Pleasant Hills: Officer Plunkett South Park Township: Officers Leonetti and Skalican Allegheny County Police: Officer McGann On 6/10/2016 Officer Meisel attended the 2016 Law Enforcement Conference presented by TEAM DUI / Pennsylvania DUI Association in Collier Township. 2 in-house Company Courses were developed for continuing education. The topics covered were Workman s Compensation and the dangers of Fentanyl. We were able to send Officer Skrip to POSIT school from 6/6-6/10. We would like to thank the Mt. Lebanon Police Department for allowing us to have an open spot at no charge. The Stanley Cup Finals ended successfully with no major incidents. I would like to thank Sgt. Vojtas for devising a sound patrol plan for this detail. Our Shield 12 Traffic Sign was placed out on Windsor Way from 6/6/16 until 6/17/16. In that time the average speed recorded was 15.75 mph with a maximum speed of 32 mph recorded. The speed limit for that street is 25 mph. Please see the attached print out at the end of this report for further details. A crossing guard recently resigned after the school year. We are still accepting applications and encourage qualified candidates to apply. As a reminder we will be hosting a Car Seat Safety check on Saturday 9/24/2016 from 10am to 1:30pm at the Brentwood Borough Volunteer Fire Department. Our prescription drug take back box is installed and open for use. We request that anyone who wishes to use it to please abide by the rules posted on the box.
