Staffing/Personnel Recruits in Police Academy: Recruit Trevor Clark is attending the Dallas County Sherriff s Department Academy. He is scheduled to graduate on June 10, 2016. Recruit Jacob Herring is attending the North Central Texas Council of Government s Regional Police Academy. He is scheduled to graduate on July 22, 2016. Recruit Stephen Ahrens will start the North Central Texas Council of Government s Regional Police Academy on May 9 th, 2016 and graduate in Mid October. We currently have 2 vacant Police Officer positions.

Accomplishments On January 29, 2016, Sergeant Chris Freis and Sergeant Matthew Stogner graduated from the 118 th School of Police Supervisors from the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration
Department Activity Duncanville Citizen Police Academy Class #52 started on February 27, 2016 with 10 attending this session. Graduation will be held on May 6, 2016 On February 9, 2016, Tyler Wiley plead guilty to the 2014 murder of Ryan Lara and received life in prison. Three other suspects are currently in the Dallas County Jail awaiting trial. Three suspects have been arrested and charge with Aggravated Robbery that include offenses in the following cities: 10 Duncanville, 1 DeSoto, 2 Dallas, and 2 Cedar Hill. A suspect has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery that include offenses in the following cities: 4 Duncanville, 2 Garland, and 1 Lancaster.
Department Activity Follow up to a cold case, a 2011 Aggravated Robbery from Cash America where the two suspects robbed the location using an AK-47. Two suspects were identified from physical evidence collected at the location and both were taken into Duncanville Police custody in March.

Accomplishments Officer Recognition: Officer Sisk was recognized by the Texas Chisholm Trail Crime Prevention Association at its annual awards presentation. Officer Sisk received the Presidential Award and also the Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist Overall. The Duncanville Police Department received Outstanding Crime Prevention Small Agency.
Best Practices Proofs of compliance of all 166 standards have been submitted to and accepted by the Texas Police Chiefs Association. An on-site visit, to review compliance in depth, has been scheduled for April 5 6, 2016. Following that visit, the assessors will prepare a final report to submit to the Recognition Committee.
Med-Return Box A Med-Return disposal box has been installed in the Police Department front lobby. The Med-Return disposal box was purchased through grant funding from the North Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and The Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. The purpose of the Med-Return box is to provide a place to properly dispose of unused and expired medications.
