The competition is open to High School students residing in the District 5340 region limited to instrumentalist only. This program is sponsored by District 5340. All performances must be between 3 to 8 m minutes. Sam Bauchmann is leading the push for La Mesa Rotary to get high school students from the schools we sponsor (Grossmont, Patrick Henry, Mount Miguel & Monte Vista) to compete in the 4-Way Test Speech competition. He has a packet of information if you know of any students that would be interested. General Guidelines: 1. The purpose is to help youth. Rotarians and the community-at-large to more completely understand, encourage, and foster the principles of Rotary and the objects of Service Above Self. 2. The contest is open to all studentsapproved by the high school. Each school will hold its own contest, sponsored and arranged by the Rotary Club, or, when available, its associated interact club. Rotary Leadership Institute Saturday, January 30th 8:00am 3:30pm KROC Institute, USD All Rotarians in District 5340 are invited to attend this training. As a key part of their preparation, all Presidents Elect are asked to attend this training! We know this interactive experience will be beneficial to any Rotarian and it will also give you the opportunity to make connections with your peers while learning about all aspects of Rotary. These sessions will be facilitated by District Leaders and provide you with a solid Rotary foundation while developing leadership skills. Course offerings on January 30, 2016, allow you to begin, continue or finish the three part Rotary Leadership Institute program. Upon completion of all three parts, you will be given a pin and certificate. Rotary Fellowship and Networking Event February 3 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Join fellow Rotarians for fun, fellowship and business networking on February 3, 2016, 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the beautiful law offices of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack high atop the Columbia Center in Downtown San Diego. This combined function is brought to you by the San Diego Rotary Club, the Coronado Rotary Club, Rotary District 5340 and San Diego State Rotaract Club. This will be a wonderful event where you can meet new Rotary friends an andd business contacts while enjoying the penthouse balcony view of San Diego Harbor. DISTRICT DINNER AT STORE BREWERY Tuesday February 9th 6:00 pm Come have a great time of fellowship with other Rotarians at the Stone Brewery location at Liberty Station on Tuesday, February 9th. District 5340 is sponsoring a Beer Tasting Event and Dinner. The location is Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station; 2816 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego. The event begins at 6:00 PM with beer tasting followed by dinner at 7:00. Music by guitarist John Robinson. The cost is $55 per person and that includes dinner and 2 beer tastings. DISTRICT GOVERNOR-ELECT EVENT I hope you didn t miss the District Governor-Elect Hospitality Event held this week at St. Madeline Sophie Center in El Cajon. What an event! We had delegates attending the event from India, Brazil, Australia, Pakistan, Netherlands, Canada, the US and more! The event was co-hosted by the 5 East County Rotary Clubs.
