External Corrections Services (CPS and PS) Alcohol and Drug services Mental Health services Community agencies Purpose : To oversee, co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of the specialist CADS CPS Programme. To provide clinical supervision to designated CADS Clinicians as well as services to referred clients. Page 1
KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES CADS Offender Programme Implementation Supports effective and regionally coordinated provision of CADS clinical services to clients of CPS and Prison Services in conjunction with CADS Clinical Team Leaders and CADS Alcohol and Drug Clinicians Ensures effective and regionally coordinated liaison with Corrections Services (Community Probation Service CPS and Prison Service PS) Assists with coordination and facilitation of CADS Stop Drinking and Driving programmes Identifies support/resources required and liaises with CPS/PS and or CADS Manager/Clinical Team Leaders Contributes to the project related evaluation and research requirements Prepares monthly reports to CPS and PS. Prepares three-monthly reports for Ministry of Health Carries out and coordinates project related administrative tasks and requirements Provides practical / logistic support for programme provision on CPS and PS sites by leading and/or supporting effective inter-agency liaison Provision of and participation in clinical supervision. Provision of supervisory and programme leadership and consultancy Provides direct clinical supervision for staff, where appropriate and as directed by the manager Advises and informs the Manager in regard to issues/changes and developments related to the operation of the programmes and clinical services Advises clinical supervisors on issues related to CPS and PS related service provision by CADS Provision of high quality evidence based practice that meets stakeholder requirements Page 2 Provides a clinical services, as detailed, in one or more of the following areas as determined by service and project need, and as directed by the Manager: - Screening - Referral - Risk Assessment and Crisis Intervention - Assessment - Treatment planning - Clinical Interventions - Treatment review - Discharge - Aftercare Participates in the service group programmes as required by the Manager including group design, facilitation and administrative requirements. Develops and maintains relevant liaison consultation and advisory networks with other alcohol and drug, community and health and social service agencies.
Training Supervision Continues to develop own knowledge base and skills as required to function effectively within the alcohol and drug field generally and within CADS specifically. Participates fully in all requirements of the CADS Performance Management System in regard to supervision and performance review and appraisal. Proactive approach to service and programme planning and review processes that guides actions and decision making so as to effect continuous quality improvement. Develops and maintains functional relationships with CADS Managers, Quality Team, Supervisors, Clinical Team Leaders, Psychologists, Research Team and Business Support Team. Participates in CADS Counselling Service and CADS wide activities that promote the development of Best Practice Standards within CADS. Participates in and contributes to organisational reviews of policy / procedure, practice Guides and practice standards. In conjunction with the Supervisors, Clinical Team Leaders and the Manager contributes to the coordination of CADS requirements in regard to systems and standards. Promotes participation in all research and quality initiatives within CADS and provides liaison with the Research and Quality Teams. Provide programme design, facilitation and evaluation input to the CADS Internal Training Programme as directed by the Manager. To ensure that the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi are supported and implemented in delivery of service Demonstrates a commitment to understanding the implications for Maori health that are implicit in the Treaty of Waitangi and supports and participates in WDHB s and CADS s commitment to bi-culturalism. Appropriate referral to Te Ātea Marinō. Appropriate consultation with Te Ātea Marinō staff when working with Maori clients. Attendance at relevant WDHB bicultural/treaty training. PERSON SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE: Minimum Preferred Qualification Experience Tertiary qualification (three year degree or equivalent) in applied AOD studies, nursing, social work, counselling or other related fields. Relevant professional registration (HPCA, Dapaanz, NZAC) Clinical experience in the alcohol/drug and/or related health or social service field Relevant formal training and experience in substance abuse treatment preferred. Relevant experience in working and liaison with Department of Corrections services and clients referred to CADS by Probation and Prison Services Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Proven leadership and supervision skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Superior interpersonal, team building and conflict resolution skills Good physical and mental health Computer literacy Current drivers licence Page 5
