Jennifer Fountain and Rocky Raider WELCOME RAIDERS! As you arrive we would like to be sure you are comfortable making this major transition to campus life. We will be connecting you with some of the opportunities, offices and people on campus that are here to support you and ensure you have an incredible college experience. We have planned a number of events for your opening weekend beginning with dinner on Thursday in The Hawk and the Opening Welcome in Raider Stadium. Additional activities include Playfair, educational sessions, SOU Football, interactions with staff and faculty, community dinners and socials, and opportunities to explore Ashland. You have joined a university that is student-focused and seeks to engage you in a valuable learning experience. Regardless of your educational goals, Southern Oregon University has real opportunities to help you be successful in a diverse and purposeful community. The first six weeks of fall term are very crucial to your success. During this time, we encourage you to participate in programs across campus and meet faculty and staff who are available to support and encourage you to reach your goals. You can meet Orientation Leaders at Raider Village near The Hawk and we will walk to Lithia Park s Band Shell. Enjoy downtown Ashland, free lunch, and visit local businesses to be entered into drawings for great prizes and free lunch! 1:30 PM 5:30 PM HOUSE SEMINAR MEET-UPS These meetings are only for students enrolled in House Seminars. Green House (Raider Village between Shasta and McLaughlin) Get to know your Green House faculty and colleagues before classes begin! We'll meet near the central tree in Raider Village and actively "hunt" through town to Lithia Park, where we'll work together through fun low-ropes and challenge activities. Skeptic House (Admissions/Britt Hall Lawn) Get to know your Skeptic House faculty and peers before class begins! We'll meet near the stone sculpture in front of Admissions where we'll head out to the Family Fun Center in Central Point for some fun and games! 2:00PM 5:00PM Soccer Game : SOU v. Northwest Christian College (Raider Stadium) 8 :00PM 9:30PM Volleyball Game: SOU v. Walla Walla (Ashland High School, Mountain Avenue Gym) 10:00 PM 1:00 AM Fred Meyer Night* (Meet the bus at Webster/Wightman Street) Join 2000+ of your fellow students as the South Fred Meyer. Doors open at 11:00pm to the SOU community. Buses will be running from Raider Village to Fred Meyer all evening. SOU ID required. 4

Monday, September 26 10:00 AM 1:00 PM Meet Ashland (SU Courtyard) Local businesses and organizations will be tabling to get to know our new students. 12:00 PM 3:00 PM Lavender Social (SU Rogue River Room) The Lavender Social is for anyone who identifies as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) community and our allies. Students will have a chance to socialize with fellow peers, interact with staff/faculty from various SOU departments, and become familiar with campus and community resources to be successful at SOU. Come join the social to connect and learn more! Tuesday, September 27 11:00 AM 1:00 PM On-Campus Job and Internship Fair (SU Courtyard) Departments from across campus will be out to publicize job opportunities that are available to students. 9:00 PM Ashland BiMart Night (Meet the Limo at Webster/Wightman Street) Join your fellow students as our Ashland BiMart opens its doors after hours to the SOU community. A Limo will be shuttling between Raider Village and BiMart from 8:55pm to 11:10pm. Free pizza and soda! No BiMart membership required. Remote broadcast by 96.9FM The Rogue, with lots of prizes including two grand prizes of $250 (each) gift certificates to the SOU Bookstore. 6

Wednesday, September 28 11:00 AM 1:00 PM Outdoor Program and Recreation Fair (SU Courtyard) Students will learn about the local opportunities to get involved in our beautiful region. Rec sports will also be available so get your teams together! Thursday, September 29 11:00 AM 1:00 PM Student Leadership and Involvement Fair (SU Courtyard) SOU has over 80 student clubs and organizations! Many of these groups will be here to show students how to get engaged with activities on campus. 7:30 PM Frank Warren, Post Secret Tickets Required (Rogue River Room) This PostSecret creator introduced the world to a collection of highly personal postcards mailed anonymously, exposing the soulful secrets we never voice. Tickets for SOU Students are free! Limit 2 free tickets per student. Tickets for Frank Warren are available at the Stevenson Union Information Desk, September 19-29 th Monday-Friday between 8:00am- 5:00pm. Day of Event: Tickets will also be available at the door if there are still open seats. Doors will open at 6:30pm.
