Coral Springs Charter Panther Post A Message from Mr. Springer APRIL 2014 Welcome spring! When you receive this newsletter we will be in our final preparations for the end of year assessments. It is extremely important students maintain good attendance from this point forward and come to school with plenty of rest and nourishment. With spring break behind us, it is time to start planning for our end of school activities. Spring is always one of our busiest seasons at CSCS. Be sure to check the web site for updated information. The fourth quarter has now begun which means the school year is nearing an end. It is time to look forward to the 2014-2015 school year. During the past several weeks, guidance staff has been meeting individually with students to determine class schedules. I hope you took the opportunity to be involved in the conversation with your child. Our enrollment period has ended and I am pleased to note that we have over 2000 applicants for the 2014-2015 school year. Thank you for continuing to make CSCS an outstanding school with an excellent reputation. Finally, students will soon be notified of the school wide summer reading program. The book will be on sale in our school store as well as at the local Barnes and Noble on University Drive. In addition, the public library will have several additional copies of each of the books for any students who may not be able to purchase one. Go Panthers!! 1

CSCS Check out our website: www.coralspringscharter.org NHS NEWS! Now that spring has arrived our students face two serious challenges to their academic progress: Spring fever and Senior slump. Let us reassure you, this does not pertain to the National Honor Society. This month we will be begin our induction process for new members for the 2014-2015 school year. All sophomores and juniors with a 3.0 grade point average or better will receive an invitation to join NHS. From there the invitees follow a set of instructions as to how to document two (2) instances of proven leadership during their high school years. Both can be from within the High School environment (student council, club leaders, sports and arts leaders, etc) but one can also be from outside the school (sports clubs, civic associations, church). All applications must be returned signed by those vouching for the information by Friday April 4th. IF YOUR CHILD DESERVES AN INVITATION AND DID NOT RECEIVE ONE, CONTACT MR. SINGER @ MSINGER@CORALSPRINGSCHARTER.ORG Also this month we will be enjoying a wonderful luncheon sponsored by Olive Garden on behalf of the work we did for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients Campaign. Tutoring continues in full stride as we approach the FCATs and aim for our 12th year as an A school. 3

PANTHER FOOTBALL 2014 LIFT-A-THON The Coral Springs Charter football team will be hosting a lift-a-thon on Thursday April 17 th from 3-5pm in the Panther Weight Room. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the JV and Varsity football teams. Each athlete will collect sponsorships based upon how many reps that they do of bench press, squat, and dead lift. The studentathlete will collect as much money as they can and then complete the same amount of reps in the three exercises in a two hour period. Each player is asked to raise a minimum of $135, and our goal is 100% participation for every student-athlete. Please contact Coach Miller at amiller@coralspringscharter.org if you would like to sponsor a football player.
