Purpose of the role: To provide an efficient, effective, customer focused oral health service to the children and adolescents within the three metropolitan DHBs. KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Clinical Practice Quality of Service The (DT/OHT) is a member of a collaborative team and works within all collaborative team processes. Current clinical and preventative oral health care is delivered which meets DHB and Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) standards of practice. Assessment and treatment planning is consumer focused within a cultural and environmental context. Treatment is implemented in a timely, safe and effective manner in accordance with the agreed plan, with a strong focus on prevention. Education and information is provided for patient/ whanau/parents/caregivers when necessary. Infection control standards are met and maintained. Boundaries of practice are identified/recognised and referral on occurs as appropriate. Active consultation with colleagues/clinical team Leader occurs, to support treatment decisions. Patients experience a relaxed, friendly service. Interacts effectively with pre-school/school staff, patients, parents and community. Works effectively as part of a team to achieve objectives. Participates in the education of students and colleagues (mentorship, supervision, orientation, and education sessions). Liaison with community groups to ensure continuity of service, and improved oral health outcomes. Manages workloads to meet agreed service productivity outputs. Documentation is clear and concise and complies with DCNZ and Waitemata DHB policies. Appointments are managed and patient receives oral health care according to treatment plan. Communication, both verbal and written is effective and patient focused. Good public image and relations are developed and maintained. Equipment is properly cared for and maintained. Resources are utilised effectively.
