Incidents On May 5 th, the Fine Arts Theater reported a $20.00 counterfeit bill had been passed earlier in the month. Officer Brennan took a report on the matter. On May 17 th, the Pleasant Café requested an ID Check on an individual with a Connecticut ID. Officers responded and it was confirmed that the ID was fake, and the individual was under the age of 21. He was issued a summons to Concord District Court. On May 26 th, Maynard Police Department received a report of a male party that slapped another individuals dog. The party was located, and the matter was passed onto Animal Control Officer Condon. On May 31 st, at approximately 3:48PM the Maynard Outdoor Store reported a shoplifting that occurred 20 minutes prior. A male party is suspected of stealing five items from the store. The incident is under investigation, and photographs of the suspect can be seen on our social media page.
Community Outreach Maynard Public Safety Communications is looking for a Part Time Dispatcher, 16 hours per rotation from the hours of 7:00AM-3:00PM. The Town of Maynard is conducting a parking study, if you re looking for more information please visit their social media, or website. The 2018 Maynard Police Department Youth Academy is still accepting applications! The Youth Academy is an excellent way to build strong relationships between the Police Officers and Maynard youths, it runs from July 16 th July 20 th 2018. There are applications on our website, and please feel free to contact Officer Manchuso with any questions at tmanchuso@maynardpolice.com We continue to receive reports of scam phone calls being received by Maynard residents, it seems that they are now making it appear as though the phone call is coming from a 978-897-**** number. This may lead you to believe that it is a local call. We urge you to be cautious when discussing any personal information on the telephone, and always confirm that you know who it is that you are speaking to.
Training On May 7 th, Communications Supervisor Finnerty attended Identifying the Imposter at NESPIN in Franklin. On May 22 nd Sergeant Jones, Sergeant Cushing and Sergeant Duggan attended a Firearms Legal Update in Marlborough. Officer Houle and Officer Manchuso completed a Protecting Law Enforcement Responders Chief Dubois attended a terrorism response training in Foxboro presented by Israeli Police Officers. It was focused on best practices and case studies along with an understanding of how Israel handles terrorism.
