ABOUT THE AMERICAN LEGION The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. The American Legion currently has about 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide. These posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not for profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grassroots involvements in the legislative process. Legionnaires sense of obligation to their community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands not behind politics, but the issues and people that institute progress by focusing on veterans rights and quality of life. The American Legion s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives. ABOUT OUR ANNUAL DEPARTMENT CONVENTION Approximately 3,000 4,100 attendees gather at the Department Convention to help further their cause of patriotism and support for our service men and women, past and present. The Department Convention of the Florida American Legion includes two other separate conventions: The American Legion Auxiliary and The Sons of The American Legion. The combined membership of these three organizations is near four (4) million worldwide. Along with the annual business meetings, other significant elements of the Department Convention include the election of officers, training sessions, general sessions with keynote speakers, a patriotic memorial service, receptions and banquets.
The Florida American Legion will be hosting their 97 th Annual Department Convention in Orlando, Florida, June 25 th -28 th 2015. We are proud to feature your business/organization with our American Legion Family Members. Vendor booths will be located in the hotel atrium. Each vendor will receive a pre- assigned 6ft skirted table, with 2 chairs and 1 wastebasket unless otherwise pre determined. All other items such as electrical, freight handling and special signage will be at the expense of the exhibitor. Each booth is available for setup on Thursday, June 25 th between 2pm and 5pm. Please park in the main parking lot and use the side door located by the fitness center to load in your vendor supplies. (map attached) Show dates are Friday and Saturday. Exhibitors will need to break down their booth at 4pm on Saturday, June 27 th. Exhibitors please feel free to take lunch breaks at your discretion. There are several food and beverage outlets to choose from. A copy of our agenda has been included with this packet so that you may see each days schedule of events. Should you wish to purchase power through the hotel, you must fill out the attached Exhibit Order Form. All signage must be self contained. Items left overnight at a vendor booth will be at the exhibitors discretion. MEMO Department Convention Parking Please be advised that all overnight/and or day guests attending The American Legion Department Convention will receive complimentary parking. The Renaissance Orlando property features a gated parking lot. For security reasons, parking lot gates will remain OPEN from 7am 7pm daily, June 25 th 28 th 2015. Overnight guests may use their room key to gain access in and out of the parking lot at any time. Your final bill will reflect a zero parking charge. Day guests arriving/departing before or after the designated times are to have parking tickets validated at the hotel front registration desk. You must let them know you are with The American Legion.
