We provide clinical care in mental health and addictions with a tikanga Māori (cultural values and concepts) approach. Purpose of the role Provide operational clinical leadership to the team ensuring effective and safe clinical service delivery. KEY TASKS Provide operational clinical leadership to the team ensuring effective and safe clinical service delivery. Act as a clinical resource to the team offering consultation, advice, mentoring and facilitation of evidence based practice. Contribute to the development of a clinical and organizational environment that fosters the recovery of tangata whai i te ora and their whanau. EXPECTED OUTCOMES 1. Clinical reviews occur on regular basis through a. Co-ordination of review timetable, b. Ensuring they happen and right people attend c. Chairing reviews as required, d. Acting as a clinical resource, coaching e. Ensuring tangata whai i te ora and whanau participation, f. Ensuring robust review, discussion, evaluation and future planning occurs and they reflect a recovery orientated approach. 2. Priority clinical systems and processes are in place and being followed: Initially these will focus on the following five key priority areas and will be reviewed as part of team annual service/quality plans: a. Triage and allocation process b. Robust clinical discussion processes around assessment (including risk assessment), treatment planning and documentation c. Medication documentation processes d. Day to day management & oversight of team case load management system e. in consultation as required with Kaihaumanu and team specific. 3. Reports to Kaihaumanu, Kaiwhakahaere Haumanu and other senior staff in Team identified service/clinical risks and achievements/ strengths. Contributes proactively to resolution and management of risk. 4. Contribute to annual team service plans. Operational activity is informed by evidence based practice and clinical provision reflects this as evidenced through: Initiation, monitoring and implementation of clinical audit Robust clinical team debate and recovery planning Feedback from tangata whai I te ora and whanau, Implementation of clinical outcome measures Team has annual service improvement/quality plan that is implemented Team culture supports innovation, best professional practice and team learning. Participate in professional development reviews of team member as agreed with Kaihaumanu for specified individuals Participate in orientation and induction of new team members Work in partnership with leadership team in developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies for team Contribute to resolution of conflict within team as appropriate and agreed with Kaihaumanu Workforce development priorities are identified and reported to Kaihaumanu. This includes skill mix and training priorities for team Regular, effective communication and liaison occurs with key stakeholders (both by co-ordinator and clinicians as part of recovery plans) including: whanau members, other community MH services, specialist mental health teams (ie MMH, EPI) NGOs, primary care, service coordinators. Carry a case load of 8-10 tangata whai i te ora and practice under the Moko Community Mental Health Nurse position description and scope of practice. PERSON SPECIFICATION Minimum Preferred Qualification Tertiary Health Qualification: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Medicine Meets registration requirements for that profession Current annual practicing certificate Practicing at Level 3 nursing (or equivalent for other disciplines). Experience Min 5 years experience in mental health services including community mental health teams. Demonstrated experience in implementing service change projects/lead roles new service developments, and or service improvement/quality initiatives. Demonstrated relevant clinical experience & credibility Demonstrated experience in case load and or clinical supervision. Skills/Knowledge/Behaviour Knowledge of effective Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug clinical service provision & interventions: Knowledge of safe & effective clinical processes and procedures Knowledge of principals of recovery and tangata whai I te ora involvement Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi & cultural issues in health service delivery.
