Seventh annual Pediatric Behavioral Target audience This activity is targeted toward pediatricians, child psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, educators and all those working with pediatric mental health. Statement of educational need This symposium will address pediatric mental health concerns that often are experienced by individuals secondary to racial bias, immigration status, developmental status, chronic medical conditions and sexual orientation. Providers will gain insight into best practices for mental health screening within diverse populations, treatment options, and existing community resources for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria, children of immigrant status with mental health concerns, and children displaying behavioral problems as a result of chronic medical conditions or developmental disabilities. Additionally, providers will learn strategies to identify at-risk individuals and engage patients and families in developing mutually acceptable plans for utilizing community resources. Educational objectives 1. Recognize mental health concerns common in children and adolescents with gender dysphoria. 2. List community resources for children of immigrants who are experiencing mental health concerns. 3. Discuss common behavioral problems and treatment options for behavioral problems of patients with chronic medical conditions and developmental disabilities. 4. Describe screening tools and indications for mental health conditions of pediatric patients. Course co-directors W.
