We have a turnover of around 40,000 patients per year. Lambeth and Southwark have some of the highest rates of STIs and HIV in the country. This offers a unique opportunity to learn how to manage the whole spectrum of STIs in a friendly, supportive environment. We run various specialist clinics, have an Academic half day as well as a dedicated F2/VTS/CNS teaching session. The post starts with a 2 week induction period, completing our in-house online local induction and sitting in with other clinicians before starting to see patients. Communication with carers and relatives, regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, prognosis and discharge planning is part of day to day practice. Patients with both functional and organic illnesses are assessed on the ward. Serves all four boroughs within SLAM. There is a dedicated inpatient consultant on the ward as well as two STs who visit the ward one day a week each. Close liaison with community teams and general hospitals social services and GPs is practised. Psychiatric and physical examination, investigation, maintenance of records and timely discharge summaries are essential duties.
