DEPARTMENT NEWS PARKS AND RECREATION Parks The park crew is working on fall clean-up of gardens, landscape, preparing fields for youth sports and mowing all Town sites including schools. Construction has started at Veteran s Park baseball field to enlarge the outfield Recreation Volunteers needed Actors, Techs and Drama clubs needed for our annual Haunted Happening. Page 2 Weekly Management Report September 22, 2017 15 th Annual Airline Trail Ghost Run The Parks & Recreation Departments of Hebron, Colchester, and East Hampton are collaborating along with the State of CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to host our 15 th Annual Ghost Run On our beautiful 13.1 mile certified half marathon course. The first 375 registered runners will receive a long sleeved t-shirt. If interested in volunteering for this event or if you need more information, feel free to contact any of the Parks & Recreation offices; Hebron 860-530-1281, Colchester 860-537-7297 and East Hampton 860-267-7300. Please mail registrations to Hebron Parks & Recreation, 15 Gilead Street, Hebron, CT 06248. Make check payable to Town of Hebron. Date: Saturday, November 4 th, 2017 Location: Starts at Hebron Elementary School Ends at Center Elementary School in East Hampton. Time: 9:00 am (rain or shine) Cost: Individual: $37.00 (after October 21, $44.00) Relay Teams: $60.00 (after October 21, $65.00) Youth/Travel Basketball Registration has begun for youth basketball and travel Pilates Join Tina Catanzaro in this dynamic mind/body class. The focus is on core strength and stabilization using the Joseph Pilates method. Please bring a mat, water bottle and towel. Wear comfortable clothing. All are welcome. Each class will include breath work, postures, and meditation. Come increase your energy and flexibility while reducing stress. This class will allow you to honor your body, mind and spirit; explore your limits and maximize your potential. Please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle and towel. Wear comfortable clothing. Take the night for your holiday shopping while your kids have fun at Gilead Hill School. The Hebron recreation staff will have no shortage of fun for your children. We ll do it all from gym time to arts and crafts. We ll show a movie and even do the cooking providing dinner and a snack. Take advantage of this opportunity to get caught up in the holiday spirit or even a good ol fashion date night. Just know that your children are in good hands for the evening! Location: Park and Recreation classrooms; entrance near playground Grade Day Time Date Fee PK-6 F 5:30-9:30 12/8/17 snow 12/15 $30 ($5 for each additional children) Beyond Main Street The Other Hebron This course will lead attendees on a tour of some of the lesser known aspects of Hebron! From historical facts and notable places that residents may have passed by, to local lore and legends that residents may not have heard. The purpose of this class is to inform attendees about the richness of Hebron, beyond the businesses on Main Street and the high school. Attendees will hear stories collected from the Hebron Historical Society and from other sources. Instructor: Stephen Pozzato Location: RHAM History classroom

This will assist in future snow removal activities by allowing the residents a place to park while the parking areas are cleared. Roadside mowing continues throughout Town as the vegetation creates site line issues at the intersections. The former landfill was mowed this week. This activity has to take place at least twice a year. The concrete barriers at the schools were removed as the fence company installed the protective bollards at the gas locations. Two driveway aprons were paved on Grayville Road and Hillcrest Drive where drainage was installed and road elevations changed. The drainage system on Hope Valley Road was improved at one of the basin locations by installing a protective cover. Tree removals took place on Daly Road to respond to a resident s concern. The crew assisted in removing shelving from the Town Clerks vault and recycling the metal at the Transfer Station. FIRE DEPARTMENT This week the Fire Department responded to eight EMS and three service calls. 09/22/2017-Friday Film: Wonder Woman. Rated PG-13.

You Still can join: Storytime sessions run from September to June in six-week block sessions. Registration is free and required in advance due to limited class sizes. Calendars for Storytime classes are available at the desk in the Children s Department. Waiting lists are available as classes fill.
