fitness Facility & Fitness classes Okanagan College is committed to promoting health and wellness as a lifestyle choice for all eligible students. Our facility offers a wide range of cardio machines and strength training options. Memberships can be purchased online for $10. Cards are activated based on your enrollment and program dates and will be automatically reactivated for returning students. Please sign up at www.okanagan.bc.ca/kelownastudentlife Fitness Facility Hours of Operation Mon - Thu Friday Sat 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. PERSONAL TRAINING To make the most of your time in the fitness facility, consider working with a BCRPA registered personal trainer. A program will be designed that is best suited to help you achieve your goals. All personal training sessions can be booked online at www.okanagan.bc.ca/kelownastudentlife. Group Orientations: Our fitness specialist will book a maximum of four people per orientation. COMMUNITY GROUP FITNESS PARTNERS In partnership with The Woman s Place, Global Fitness, and Tandava Yoga, Okanagan College is happy to provide free group fitness classes for students at these facilities. Please visit the Athletics, Recreation and Student Life office (A 105) to find out how you can access these classes. We have a limited number of drop-in swimming passes for Parkinson Rec Center. With a strong core of returning student athletes and a number of new promising recruits, the team will be looking to return to the CCBC Championship Tournament. Please come out and support your Okanagan College Baseball Team by attending a home game this semester and catch some exciting baseball action. You will learn about your campus, your program and all the services available to you! The day begins at 9 a.m. in the courtyard with an official welcome, program orientation session and wraps up with a free lunch, lots of prizes and fun activities. Don t miss out on the annual beaver toss after lunch! Out-of-Town Student Cafe Date: September 7, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Location: Trades building Atrium And Date: September 7, 1-3 p.m. Location: Atrium of the Centre for Learning Are you from a city or town outside of Kelowna? An international student new to Canada? A student from another province? No matter where you come from, attend this casual drop-in coffee-house style event to meet other students who are from out of town, grab a coffee, a treat and settle in with some board games and old fashioned in person meeting and greeting. Carnival and Outdoor Movie Night Date: Wednesday, September 7 Location: Courtyard (lecture theatre if inclement weather) Time: 6:30-10 p.m. Bring your blanket and join us in the courtyard for a fun-filled evening full of activities, a free dinner and a movie under the stars! Activities begin at 6:30 and the movie will begin at about 8:30, depending on how fast the sun goes down. The Amazing OC Adventure Date: Thursday, September 8 Location: All over campus Time: 1-4 p.m. Get off the couch and get in the game! We re sending you all over campus to complete challenges and find clues during OC s Amazing Adventure. Get a team together and get in on the fun! There will be lots of great prizes to win. OCSU Beverage Gardens Date: Thursday, September 8 Location: Courtyard Time: 2-6 p.m. Join your students union for an afternoon of camaraderie and fun at their annual beverage gardens. Beach Day Date: Friday, September 9 Location: Gyro Beach Time: 12-5 p.m. Come hit the beach with us for an afternoon of fun in the sun where you will enjoy unlimited use of nonmotorized sports equipment at beautiful Gyro Beach, just a 10- minute walk from campus. Rainy day? No problem! We ll hit the beach the following day - same time, same place. Pub Night Date: Friday, September 9 Location: Mission Tap House Time: 7-10 p.m. Meet us for a fun night at a local pub. We ll pick up the appies, you join us for pool, shuffleboard, darts and a whole lot of meeting and greeting with your future classmates. OCSU BBQ and Bounce Bash Date: Tuesday, September 13 Location: Courtyard Time: 12-2 p.m. This annual event features a free bbq lunch for students. After enjoying your meal, stick around for some fun with a variety of inflatable activities. OCSU Pancake Breakfast Date: Wednesday, September 14 Location: Courtyard Time: 7:30 a.m. Fuel up first thing in the morning with a free breakfast for the early birds! 8 th Annual Youth Exhibition PowWow Date: Thursday, September 15 Location: Courtyard Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Take part in our annual Powwow when dancers and drummers from across the B.C. Interior come to the College to celebrate the rich heritage, cuisine and artwork of the Indigenous people in our region. okanagan.bc.ca/orientation Coyotes Tailgate and Home Opener Date: TBA Location: TBA Updated information can be found at A105 and Meet at the field for an old-fashioned tailgate party and stay for the Coyotes home opening game! October Stress Buster Event October is here! Join us for games, music, healthy snacks, therapy dogs and study tips. All of these will help you cope with midterm and project stress. Date: Thursday, October 13 Time: 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Location: Atrium Cost: Free Myra Canyon Rope Climbing Adventure Saturday, October 1, 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. On the edge of the beautiful and historic Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park sits an aerial tree top ropes course. Myra Canyon Adventure Park offers climbing in ropes and challenge course lines, slack lining, disc golf and mindventures at one of the most scenic spots in the valley. Guests of ALL ages are challenged to explore, climb, swing, dangle, balance, hike and solve physical challenges on a variety of climbing elements between trees. Location: Meet in the Centre for Learning at 9 a.m. for free bus transportation to the venue. Cost: $5 Register online at www.okanagan.bc.ca/kelownastudentlife Registration Deadline: Wednesday, September 28 Hallowe en Howler Put on your costume and put your artistic skills to the test at the annual Halloween party and pumpkin carving contest. Compete for the right to call yourself the Okanagan College Ping Pong champion! Prizes will be awarded for this double knockout tournament.
