Undecided about what kind of job you want? Having trouble picking a college major? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, you should see the counseling office for more information. We can assist you with Career Scope or Career Cruising. You can review your career scope results that you may have taken as a freshman or you can retake this 60-minute assessment. Career Cruising is another option that will help you find a direction. There is a parent page describing Career Cruising on page 4 of this newsletter. Don t wait come visit the counseling office and check it out today! FINES AND FEES Please check with the counseling office to inquire about possible fines and fees you have acquired. All fines and fees must be cleared to assure participation in graduation. Don t delay take care of it today! College Information College Applications: Applications for most Michigan colleges and universities are available in the Counseling Office. Completed applications, along with application fee, should be turned into Ms. Rynberg, Counseling Office Secretary. A transcript will be attached and the packet will be given to your counselor. The high school counselor portion will be completed and then mailed. You may also apply on line. There will usually be a page that you must print out and bring to the C.O. so that your transcript may be sent. It is not too early to start the application process. NCAA guide for college bound Athletes can now be found at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Student-athletes should click on Prospective Student-Athlete which will link the student to the necessary information. It is extremely important that prospective student athletes read the guide carefully and understand the NCAA initial eligibility requirements. If you plan to compete in college athletics, it is imperative that you file the appropriate forms. If you have questions, visit their website at www.ncaa.org. There is an opportunity for re-takes once more in the spring so sign up in the counseling office for the Spring MME if needed. Thinking about re-taking the ACT if you qualifying, you can re-take for free as part of the MME if not you can sign up on your own at anytime at www.actstudent.org. $$$...Money Money Money $$$ Who: YOU Financial Aid FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be used to apply for aid from Federal student financial aid programs. (Federal student financial aid means Federal grant, loan and work study money for your education.) You must also use this form to apply for most state and some private aid. This form must be filled out if the student is eligible for the MICHIGAN Competitive Scholarship. Forms will be available in December. Completed forms will not be accepted by the processor until January 1 of each year and must be received no later than February 22. The mission of the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association is to coordinate services and funding information between educational support programs and to better provide access for students in their pursuit of education goals. The Michigan Alternative Student Loan (MI- LOAN) Program offers a practical means to attaining success by delivering inexpensive, personalized financial assistance.
