LT. GARY MCLIN PATROL DIVISION Completed On-Line training COMMUNITY EVENTS: Attended the Polk County Law Enforcement Trainer's Meeting. Transported the Polk County Bike Rodeo Trailer to the EPAC Parent/Youth Summit. Assisted with the Event, set up and organization. Participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life at BHS with Reserve Officers Mike Butler, Bradley Fee, and William Nelson. Attended planning meeting for the National Bike to Work Day Event to be held on May 5th. DETECTIVE BUREAU Officer Britt Davis joined the Detective Bureau in April. Det. Davis has been assigned to Central Florida (HIDTA). The High Intensity Drug Traffic Area Task Force, is a multi-agency drug task force working in partnership with the White House and Office of National Drug Control Policy. EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENTS: Detectives completed monthly Police Law Institute online training. Det. David Reynolds completed his graduate studies at Saint Leo University. We congratulate David on obtaining his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice! SIGNIFICANT CASES/ARRESTS: John Harvey-Burglary, Dealing Stolen Property, False Verification to Pawnbroker and Theft. Harvey was additionally charged for Dealing in Stolen Property and Theft in a related incident. Noah Woodruff-Violation of Sexual Predator Statute. Willie Jones-Arrest Warrant issued, then subsequently arrested on charges of Uttering Forged Instrument and Grand Theft. John Gould-Grand Theft, Contracting w/o Valid License. COMMUNITY SERVICE / EVENTS: Det. Prevatt served on the Polk County Law Day on April, planning committee and assisted with coordinated the activities. OTHER: Detective Bureau Administrative Assistant Patricia Knight was honored with a Service Award from Chief Hall for 5 Years of Service to the City of Bartow. Detectives are currently assigned 9 active cases/investigations. During the st Quarter of 5, the Detective Bureau cleared Felony Cases, which is an outstanding clearance rate of %! COMMUNITY SERVICES TEAM (C.S.T.) - SGT. BRYAN DORMAN Officer Randy Velez has joined the C.S.T. for a Temporary Duty Assignment that will last four () months. Dorman attended Unified Command Training at the Sun 'n Fun Event in Lakeland. COMMUNITY SERVICE / EVENTS: April 6 Attended the City Commission Meeting to accept a Proclamation for National Volunteer Appreciation Week. April Attended EPAC's Parent/Teen Summit Event at Carver Rec. Events included a Bike Rodeo, Skits on "What to do During Police Interaction", and a table with promotional items. Attended the Annual LB Brown Picnic on April 5. April Held C.O.P. Volunteer Meeting in Briefing Room April 7 Hosted a Luncheon to Honor all of our Police Volunteers as well as our Telecommunication Operators for National Emergency Telecommunications Week. Attended an Honor Guard meeting on April to discuss the upcoming Law Enforcement Memorial. April, assisted with Law Day, an all day event held annually at the Polk County Courthouse. Provided security at a local church during a memorial service. COMMUNITY SERVICE / TRAFFIC / PATROL ACTIVITES: Patrol Enforcement was focused on Zones and, due to complaints of traffic violations. Officer Velez, utilizing an unmarked vehicle for this detail, issued several citations for a variety of violations. The Traffic Trailer was set up and monitored traffic activity on LB Brown Ave, Church St, and Oak Ave. All Three locations showed that the average speed was less than posted. In addition, it indicated that fewer than % of the vehicles were in the citable range. These areas will continue to be monitored for a period of time. Provided Security Details to City Hall during the City Commission Meetings. Parking enforcement has been increased in the downtown area due to complaints C.S.T. continues to work flexible shifts to increase patrol visibility, to deter criminal activity, and ensure adequate coverage within the city.
