Called to order the Financing Corporation Meeting. Returned to the regular agenda On motion of Mrs. Arvizu, seconded by Mrs. Tarver, the board unanimously approved the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on April 16, 2013. Dr. McLean presented Certificates to the Administrative Academy. Pledge of Allegiance Called to Order/Financing Corporation Meeting Adoption of the Minutes Dr. McLean/Presentation of Certificates to Administrative Academy 1

Dr. Mclean presented a retiree proclamation and plaque to Martha Mortimer for her 17 years of service with the district. Dr. McLean presented a proclamation and plaque to Laurie Bowden for her 20 years of service with the district. Dr. McLean acknowledged Ofelia Ramos, who was unable to attend the meeting, for receiving a certificate of training for successfully completing the Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion and Substance Abuse Training Course on drugs and alcohol. thanked all the participants for participating in the administrative academy. thanked Mrs. Bowden for her twenty years of service. thanked Ms. Mortimer for her love and education she provided for all the special education students. Dr. McLean thanked Ms. Mortimer for embracing the learning concept for the special education students. Ms. Mortimer stated working with Dr. McLean has been easy and really rewarding. She also thanked Mrs. Kouklis for working with her in getting started in the special education program. Ms. Mortimer thanked her present aide, Maria Cruz, as well as her former aides for making it so much easier to work on projects with the students. Mrs. Kouklis gave a report on the Grimmway Academy School Board Meeting on May 20, 2013. The next board meeting will be held on June 20, 2013 at 4:00pm at the charter school. Mr. Davis gave a report on the preschool fund 12 temporary loans. Mrs. Johnson reviewed the 2012/2013 DELAC Report and shared the recommendations from the DELAC committee. stated all of the recommendations from the DELAC committee are reasonable. Mrs. Arvizu commented on the art program she attended at El Camino Real. She was really impressed with the dancing, art and fluto phones the students played. At this time, announced the opportunity for public comment regarding items not on the agenda. Elizabeth Aguilar, Fifth grade teacher at Bear Mountain Elementary, 7220 Espiritu Santo Drive. Mrs. Aguilar addressed the board in regards to dual immersion students for the 2013/2014 school year. Her concern is second grade students who were not in dual immersion for kindergarten and first grade will be enrolled in dual immersion for second grade. Dr. McLean advised Mrs. Aguilar that she would have to investigate this issue; this is not what the district has down for the enrollment projection next school year. The contract is effective July 1, 2013, expires June 30, 2015. On motion of Mr. Owens, seconded by Mrs. Tarver, the board unanimously approved Resolution #18:2012/2013 First time CBEST Waiver for 30-Day Substitutes. On motion of Mr. Owens, seconded by, the board unanimously approved the Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators for the 2013/2014 school year. On motion of Mr. Owens, seconded by Mrs. Arvizu, the board unanimously approved the Tentative Agreement between the Arvin Union School District and The Arvin Teachers Association. On motion of Mrs. Arvizu, seconded by Mr. Owens, the board unanimously approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Arvin Union School District and The Arvin Teachers Association to form a joint committee consisting of four (4) persons appointed by the ATA and four (4) appointed by the District to study the legal and/or practical reasons for each type of meeting, the frequency of meetings, the scheduling (calendaring) of such meetings, and techniques through collaboration, focused agendas, adherence to schedule time lines, etc. Presentation of initial contract proposal (sunshine) from the Arvin Union School District to the Arvin Teachers Association (ATA). (No Action Necessary) Presentation of initial contract proposal from CSEA Chapter 164 to the Arvin Union School District. (No Action Necessary) Assistant Superintendent Employment Contract Resolution #18:2012/2013 First time CBEST Waiver 2013/2014 Declaration of Need ATA Tentative Agreement MOU/Between AUSD and ATA Initial Contract Proposal from AUSD to ATA Initial Contract Proposal from CSEA to AUSD This is a presentation from the classified union to the Board. No action is necessary. At a subsequent meeting there will be an item allowing for public comment on the proposal. Presentation of initial contract proposal from the Arvin Union School District to CSEA Chapter 164. (No Action Necessary) On motion of Mrs. Tarver, seconded by Mr. Owens, the board unanimously ratified the educational study trip for the Fourth grade students of Sierra Vista School to attend San Initial Contract Proposal from AUSD to CSEA Field Trip/San Fernando Mission 6

On motion of Mrs. Arvizu, seconded by Mrs. Tarver, the board unanimously approved the following staff to the PINCO Advisory Committee for the 2013/2014 school year. PINCO Advisory Committee Interfund Transfers 73761 Temporary Loan to General Fund $ 500,000 973762 Temporary Loan to Preschool $ 35,000 On motion of Mrs. Tarver, seconded by Mrs. Arvizu, the board unanimously approved Resolution #17:2012/2013 regarding the education protection account. On motion of Mr. Owens, seconded by, the board unanimously approved Resolution #19:2012/2013 Impoundment of Local Tax Revenues to Anticipate Pending Claims and/or Litigation. announced there will be a special board meeting held within the next couple of weeks. Dr. McLean announced she received a letter of resignation from Randy Hooser. He has worked for the district for thirty seven years and his last day will be July 31, 2013. thanked Randy for his thirty seven years of service with the district.
