NURSES: WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY Celebrating Nurses & Nursing Support Staff Week 2018 The weekly newsletter for employees and friends of McLaren Bay Region Special Edition May 2018 Vol. 34, Issue 18 A message from Ellen Talbott, Vice President, Patient Care Services/ CNO and Sandy Garzell, Director, Quality Improvement & Organizational Excellence In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of our Nurses and Nursing Support Staff who promote and maintain the health of our patients, we are proud to recognize you during National Nurses and Nursing Support Staff Week. We salute you for the quality of the work you provide seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our Nurses and Support Staff are truly extraordinary. You combine critical thinking with compassion; experience with imagination; knowledge with power. You bring amazing qualities to the healthcare profession every day. Many of these qualities are personified in the miracles that you deliver to patients -- both large and small. McLaren Bay Region Nurses and Nursing Support Staff embody these virtues. Our hospital s success is in part due to the excellent nursing care our patients receive. Our nurses and support staff have worked incredibly hard to design and deliver excellent nursing care. 2017 has been a banner year for nursing. We have had a number of nurses who have become certified in their area of specialty. This year we celebrate our nurses who have earned the Clinical Ladder III and IV status for excellence in nursing. However, what we are most proud of is the caring and kind nature of the work you do. We have the privilege of hearing many of the stories of your extraordinary efforts throughout the year. Maybe it was the time that you brought in a special bowl of soup for a patient. Perhaps it was the time that you sat and comforted a family member during a difficult surgery. Every nurse has moments when they are certain beyond a doubt that they have chosen the right profession.
