ALMA C. SWANSON COVERED BRIDGE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The family of Alma C. Swanson would like to acknowledge her work, along with all the other Charter Members of the original Zumbrota Covered Bridge Society who through their efforts brought a piece of history back to its original spot (100 yards away) across the Zumbro River. The active citizens of Zumbrota met for the first time in 1964 with leading community members, legislators, historians, and a woman from Robbinsdale, Minnesota who made sure that the "Save the Bridge" effort was known throughout the country. As Corresponding Secretary, she made sure that other Societies throughout the United States knew of the Zumbrota Covered Bridge. Because of the work of these dedicated people, along with the current citizens who have done a marvelous job marketing the Bridge and making sure upkeep was done on the Bridge, this almost 150 year old historic landmark has a prominent place in the city of Zumbrota. Alma, along with the other officers, and members that have kept the dream alive, would love to make sure that the youth of Zumbrota know of the struggles, along with the successes, in the journey to get the Bridge back home. The scholarship in the amount of $1,500 will be presented to a senior who has: -Participated in Community Service, especially work at Covered Bridge Park (although other service is fine) -Be attending a post-secondary institution (any type is fine).
