Introductions Chief Howard A. Jordan Oakland Police Department The Mission of the Oakland Police Department is to provide the Community of Oakland an environment in which its citizens can live, work, play, and thrive free from crime and fear of crime.
What can you expect to take away from today s s meeting: The Police Department is staffed by a seasoned team that directs its crime fighting based on an accountability system called CompStat. The Police Departments Command Staff directs their efforts using intelligent led policing, a subset of which is the Mayors 100 Block Initiative. The Police Department is striving to improve community relationships, partnerships, and knowledge by providing a citywide overview on crime data, mapping, and analysis.

CompStat is a way of creating, implementing and measuring enforcement strategies Allows the police department to focus efforts on intelligence led policing that includes, but is not exclusive to the Mayor s s 100 Block Initiative Better able to track police operations that have led to significant success

Violence Reduction Plan Background Strategies Seasoned teams hit the streets daily deploying their resources intelligently to achieve optimal crime fighting success.
Violence Reduction Plan On going intelligence between the Bureaus, the City and the Community Teams will work with the Intelligence Section (Area Intel and Dept. Intel) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the Operations Commanders to identify the latest crime trends (to include shootings, robberies, and burglaries), hotspots and violent offenders within the Bureaus. Utilize the intelligence process to obtain current criminal information and connectivity to identify the specific persons or locations that are responsible for crime.
