Lincoln Police Department Monthly Report October 8 Report Summary 9 Pekin St. Lincoln, IL 6656 P: 7-73-5 F: 7-73-589 police@lincolnil.gov lincolnil.gov/police Property crimes in regards to theft saw a spike over the previous month, however we had a lower amount over the previous year at this time. Lincoln Police responded to,7 incidents for the month and criminal case reports were written for the month. Of the 5 arrests for the month there were several property crime and DUI arrests by the Lincoln Police. Detectives continued investigations on 3 cases including participating in CIEG task force operations. There were 3 crashes the Lincoln Police Department responded to for the month. Turning crashes were some of the top causes, which taking a few extra seconds at intersections will help curb many of these crashes. Through DARE, Office Christy Fruge attended training in Virginia to be a DARE Mentor for all of the United States. She is now one of 6 officers trained to teach the DARE program to officers new to the program. Officer Sullivan and K9 Ace searched area that resulted in 3 items of drug paraphernalia that resulted in an arrest. K9 Ace also successfully tracked a suspect that led to an arrest. School Resource Officer Tim Butterfield responded to incidents at LCHS and was training on a new camera system implemented by LCHS for school safety and security. DIVISION REPORTS Criminal Investigations Monthly Cases Report Summary for October 8 The detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Lincoln Police Department conducted further investigation on 3 active criminal investigations in the month of October. The types of investigations are listed but due to the sensitivity of those investigations, specific information is not available to for release. (8) Investigations were narcotics related. These cases involved the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substances such as heroin and cocaine and the manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine. (8) Investigations involved sexual offenses. These crimes involved both adult and child victims with offenses of predatory criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse. () Investigations involved crimes against persons. These investigations involved drug induced aggravated battery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, domestic battery, and home invasion. () Investigation was property related. This case was a burglary. Two officers of the Criminal Investigations Division continued to participate in a multijurisdictional drug task force, conducting joint investigations with other local, state, and federal agencies. (9) Search warrants were executed in furtherance of these investigations. DARE/Community Policing October 6 th : Sgt. Oltmanns, Off. Michael Fruge and Off. Christy Fruge cooked hotdogs at Central School for their annual family reading night. October 8 th : Lincoln DARE gave the Lincoln Baseball Association a donation to help cover the cost of equipment and player fees. October nd 6 th : Off. Christy Fruge attended training in Virginia to be a DARE Mentor for all of the United States. She is now one of 6 officers trained to teach the DARE program to officers new to the program. October th : Sgt. Rob Sherren and his shift went to Northwest School for Red Ribbon Week. During their visit, they read to multiple classes. LINCOLN POLICE DEPARTMENT 7
October 6 th : Sgt. Oltmanns and his shift went to Carroll Catholic School and judged each class rooms art work for Red Ribbon Week. The winning class had a pizza lunch party provided by Lincoln DARE. October 9 th : Off. Christy Fruge went to West Lincoln/Broadwell and visited every class for Red Ribbon Week. She talked about the meaning behind Red Ribbon Week and the importance of making good decisions and staying drug free. Lincoln K9 Officer Sullivan and K9 Ace had 6 deployments for the month. Lincoln Police Department requested the K9 Unit 5 times and the Logan County Sheriff s Department requested the LPD K9 Unit time. Officer Sullivan and K9 Ace were deployed for 5 different patrol types. Those patrols were building searches, human searches, tracking patrol, and evidence search. The K9 indicated 3 items of drug paraphernalia for the only evidence search this month. Officer Sullivan and K9 Ace were also deployed in a Tracking Search, which K9 Ace completed successfully with an arrest. School Resource Officer Butterfield responded to incidents at LCHS for the month of October. The most common offenses were Harassment/Bully issues, class misconduct, Medical, general disciplinary offenses with parental contacts, and Tobacco Violations/e-cigs. Officer Butterfield was trained on the new camera system at the high school. Officer Butterfield administrated lockdown drills at West Lincoln-Broadwell and at North West.
