MEChA de UCLA Presents 15th Annual Transfer Raza Day "Dismantling Institutions: Building Comunidad through Arte"

MEChA de UCLA Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlan (M.E.Ch.A) is a Chicanx student organization at UCLA. This year as a collective we came up with our vision: M.E.Ch.A de UCLA aims to dismantle structural barriers that perpetuate inequalities and injustices in Black, Brown, Indigenous and oppressed communities. In addition, we vow to decolonize our minds, bodies and spirits by deconstructing eurocentric ideologies of white supremacy, heteropatriarchy and capitalism within our organization. Furthermore, we aim to build coalitions with community organization and student collectives to develop a consciousness that encompasses the realities of the people(s) around us. By involving ourselves in various movements that include but are not limited to: Raza/Ethnic Studies Now, comprehensive immigration reform, collectives that advocate for people(s) with disabilities and LGBTQIA organizations, we continue to engage in action to transform the injustices around us. Finally, we aim to utilize our weekly general body meetings to learn about various intersectional struggles within our communities to engage in liberatorary and transformative actions.
