Police Administration 903-457-2913 Thank you for taking time to review our 2012 Annual Report. This year included many changes as we progress toward Recognized Status through the Texas Police Chief s Association. One of the major benefits to the Recognition Program is the increased credibility of the agency and its officers in the eyes of the public, other Law Enforcement Agencies, and the criminal justice system as a whole. Our goal is to complete this process in 2013, demonstrating Greenville Police Department is in compliance with over 165 law enforcement standards. Chief of Police Daniel J. Busken The Greenville Police Department recognizes its responsibility to protect the lives and property of the 25,557 residents and citizens within our 35 square mile jurisdiction. Responding to 24,796 calls for service the Greenville Police Department is committed to providing the best service possible. To accomplish this, the Department must meet over 165 Best Practices standards. Every aspect of our policies and procedures, building security and all facets of our operations are reviewed and inspected to make sure they meet the standards outlined in the Best Practices program. Partnering With The Community Kid s Camp 79 attended RAD Donation CPA Class 30 Award Winning The Texas Crime Prevention Association (TCPA) presented Officer Chris McCaslin with the 2012 Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist Small Agency and Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist Overall. This annual award is presented to specialists who have made the greatest contributions to crime prevention during the year. A 14 year veteran with the Greenville Police Department, Officer McCaslin offers a variety of crime prevention programs to children and adults throughout the community. Page 7

Chief Daniel J. Busken Receives Award Chief Daniel Busken received the Texas Police Chief s Association Innovation Award for successful innovative efforts demonstrated by the department in dealing with a rise in the number of thefts from automobiles. The Greenville Police Department used an Inter-Organization Vehicle Burglary Task Force to dramatically decrease the number of vehicle burglaries. Top 10 Finalist The Greenville Police Department was a top 10 finalist for the 2012 IACP/Motorola Webber Seavey Award for Quality in Law Enforcement. Jointly sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Motorola, the award is presented annually to agencies and departments worldwide in recognition for promoting a standard of excellence that exemplifies law enforcement s contribution and dedication to the quality of life in local communities. The Greenville Police Department qualified for this award following the launch of the highly successful Inter-Organization Vehicle Burglary Task Force. In June 2012, the Greenville Police Department recruitment brochure received a first place state award from the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers. Public Information Officer Lori Philyaw, Chief Daniel Busken, and Personnel/Training Analyst Shanta Woodson collaborated on the design and production of the multi-page marketing piece. The brochure incorporated the department s mission statement, information about the department as well as requirements for being a police officer. The brochure includes photographs of officers, equipment, facilities, and more. Page 9
