Sigma Chi has ten colonies across the United States. Collectively, Sigma Chi colonies recruited 141 new members in the fall 2011 and 66 members in the spring 2012. Sigma Chi expansion staff conducted two New Chapter Initiatives (NCI) in spring 2012 at the of Louisiana, Lafayette, and Missouri State. Additionally, Sigma Chi conducted NCI at Clarion and the of West Georgia in fall 2011. The group at Clarion is expected to submit a Declaration of Intent to become an official Sigma Chi colony in fall 2013. Sigma Chi does not have any NCI scheduled in the upcoming fall 2012 academic term. However, Sigma Chi has been scheduled to conduct three NCI in the 2012-2013 academic year. These will take place in spring 2013 at Baylor (TX), California State, San Marcos, and the of North Carolina, Charlotte. Sigma Chi has also been selected to expand to several additional universities in the next few years.
