Some of the programs have been active for many years, such as the Explorer Post and the Police Officer Reserve Unit. The Bartow Police Department Reserve/Auxiliary Officer Unit, which was established many years ago, provides a valuable source of additional sworn personnel. The Reserve Unit is a fully trained volunteer force, which augment the Department when major incidents occur, or emergency situations when additional sworn personnel is required. The requirements for a Reserve Officer are equal to that of a police officer, and the members are held to the same standard. The Citizens On Patrol (COP) Unit was established in 2012 The COP Volunteers patrol in pairs, driving a designated COP Unit. Members patrol throughout the city during the daylight hours. In addition to patrolling, COP Volunteers may issue parking citations, report suspicious activity and assist with Crime Prevention, parades, and other Community Service Events. If you are interested in one of the Volunteer Programs, please call: Community Services Coordinator Lyn Bryan (863) 534-5034 or email lbryan.pd@cityofbartow.net VOLUNTEER HOURS LOGGED THIS MONTH Citizens on Patrol (COP) 52.00 Reserve Officer Unit 35.00 TOTAL HOURS THIS MONTH 87.00 Total Volunteer Hours to Date for 2017 586.25 Welcome newest COP Volunteer, Troy Whitfield!
