Mary Black News Cardiac Cath Lab The Cardiac Cath Lab renovation project is complete. Nonfunctioning equipment in Lab #1 was replaced with the latest generation of GE s advanced interventional imaging technology and equipment. The Innova IGS 530 is versatile, designed for steep angulations required for coronary angiography and has the ability to support a variety of interventional vascular procedures. Superb quality images displayed on a large monitor assist physicians in performing advanced procedures. Physicians have the capability to zoom in without loss of detail in order to get the clinical focus needed. The dose reduction feature of the GE Innova is safer for patients and staff because dose settings can be adjusted from the tableside. Dr. Cherry and Dr. Dobkin, cardiologists with MBPG Cardiology, have already performed numerous heart catheterizations in the new cardiac cath lab. Mary Black Health System- Spartanburg is taking steps to grow our cardiac and vascular service lines. Cristy Ballard, RN, BSN, CEN Director of Emergency Services, Intensive Care, Cardiac-Vascular Lab Mary Black Endoscopy Receives Recognition The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), a leading gastrointestinal medical society, has recognized Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg s endoscopy unit as part of its program specifically dedicated to promoting quality in endoscopy in all settings where it is practiced in the United States. Mary Black Endoscopy is one of more than 400 endoscopy units to be granted the recognition since 2009. The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy units that have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality in endoscopy as evidenced by meeting the program s rigorous criteria. MBHSS offers gastrointestinal services, including endoscopy, to help doctors diagnose and treat digestive issues and conditions of the stomach, colon, lungs and biliary system. For more information about endoscopy services, call (864) 216-4776. 3
